Carla Spacher and Buffet Chef from Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta

We are so very fortunate that my husband stays at the Hyatt near his work so often. It results in him racking up a lot of Hyatt points for free stays. In this article, I’m sharing my review of food allergy and gluten free dining at the all-inclusive Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta resort, the good, the bad, the ugly, and so good, I wanted to cry. IKEA Logo for Gluten Free Menu

IKEA Logo for Gluten Free MenuBack in 2011 or 2012, I received an email from Celiac ListServ with the following statement:

“Here is the response I got from IKEA: Hello, “Thank you for your email. It is correct that the blueberry cake is gluten free, as well as the almond cake, almond cake with dark chocolate and the almond cake with milk chocolate and butterscotch. These cakes doesn’t contain any gluten; neither in the actual product nor the production area. We will update the packaging for these cakes before the next print run and add that they are free of gluten too. But you can feel secure that they does not contain any gluten already today since it is not written on the label/packaging as ingredient or traces of. “When it comes to the restaurant range and gluten free options here, please ask the staff at your next visit in the store since the range is constantly changing and we have both global and local produced dishes. However you always have to consider the risk of contamination from productsĀ containing gluten since they are all prepared in the same area in the restaurant, and we can therefore never guarantee that a dish is totally free of gluten. “Kind regards, Josefine Hallberg IKEA Food Services AB”

Macaroni Grill Gluten Free Menu

I absolutely loved my entree from the Ramano’sĀ  Macaroni Grill’s Allergen Menu. You can tell how careful they are in regards to gluten cross contamination, as their gluten free menu does include their french fries. Often times restaurants that not knowledge in gluten intolerance include french fries or naturally gluten free food items on their menu, not realizing that frying something in oil that has previously been used for a gluten containing food may be harmful to someone with celiac disease or gluten intolerance. Just loved Macaroni Grill gluten free menu!

Update: Someone recently emailed me stating that they went to a different Macaroni Grill and became ill. They were told that theyĀ use the same water to boil wheat macaroni. So, be sure to request a separate pot of fresh water if you are gluten intolerant!

Update: Macaroni Grill no longer has a gluten free menu, but they do serve gluten free penne pasta.
