Chocolate Bowl Recipe (Gluten-Free) with Chocolate Mousse

I had ordered some chocolate dessert molds and some chocolate candy molds so that when I went to visit my grandkids we’d have something fun to do. I wanted to show the family that gluten free desserts can be delicious, too. We made chocolate bowls filled with mousse. The gluten free chocolate mousse was from a packaged that we doctored up. And we topped it all off with a chocolate candy. Yum! However, we used too large of a size mold, and it was just way too much chocolate for some of us. Though some of us die-hard chocolate lovers finished every bite. I suggest a little smaller size, though any size would make wonderful gluten free desserts. You can even fill them with fresh fruit. If you do not have a chocolate mold try using small custard cups and top one with another. Enjoy and have fun!

Chocolate Bowl Recipe (Gluten-Free) with Chocolate Mousse

Quick, easy, delicious gluten free desserts in minutes!

Ingredients:

    For Chocolate Molds
  • 1/2 package Nestle's milk chocolate morsels or your favorite gluten free chocolate (Enjoy Life makes some that are dairy-free, too.)
  • 8 Chocolate Dessert Bowl Molds or 16 custard cups
  • For Quick Gluten Free Chocolate Mousse
  • 1 package Orgran Chocolate Mousse (dairy-free, too!)
  • 3 Tablespoons confectioners (powdered) sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon unsweetened gluten-free cocoa powder
  • 1+ cup of water or milk of your choice (We used milk.)

Instructions:

  1. In a small sauce pan add about 1-2 inches of water; and bring to a slow boil.
  2. In a glass bowl, larger than the opening of the pan, add chocolate and place atop pan.
  3. Stir until fully melted. I usually remove it from the heat when it has very few unmelted morsels left and continue to stir until melted. Because if you overheat the chocolate it will become too thick.
  4. Spoon the chocolate into the larger mold, about 1/3 way full and tap the mold container on the counter to even out and distribute.
  5. Place smaller mold on top and seal. (Instructions are included on mold packaging.)
  6. Place upside down in the refrigerator until solid.
  7. Place in freezer for 2 minutes prior to removing chocolate from molds.
  8. Add all dry ingredients to the bowl of your mixer.
  9. Add milk or water and mix for 3 minutes, cover and refrigerate until chilled.
  10. For assembling the chocolate bowl, spoon chocolate mousse into cups and top with fresh fruit, chocolate shavings, or chocolate candy.
  11. Serve cold.

Tips

All gluten free desserts may be modified to your liking, as is with this one. You may fill the chocolate cups with fresh berries, custard, rice pudding, etc. Be creative!
