CrispRoot Casava Chips: Gluten-Free Review and Giveaway

I asked the nice people at CrispRoot to sample their casava chips for a gluten-free giveaway and review, thinking I had never taste-tested their brand, to find out that I had when they were made under the name of Arico Natural Foods. However, not only has the name and packaging changed, but the chips themselves! They are now crinkled, perfect for dipping!

Cassavas are roots, similar to potatoes, thus naturally gluten-free. Cassava roots are rich in carbohydrates and contain some soluble carbohydrates. They were only grown in South America, but are now grown in Asia, Latin America, and Africa. Though consumed all around the world, North America has little cassava products.

CrispRoot Review

The difference between the old chips and the new chips:

  1. The old ones were thin, and the new ones are thicker.
  2. The old ones had peel on the outside, and the new ones don’t.
  3. The old ones were plain and these are crinkled for dipping!

If I’m going to have chips, I want some dip! And CrispRoot casava chips are perfect for dipping, now! I use non-fat Greek yogurt for a dip, with nothing else! Using FAGE brand makes it taste just like sour cream! Yum!

Again, I had trouble choosing my favorite. I absolutely love barbecued chips, but have trouble finding ones without tomatoes. CripsRoot’s BBQ Bliss does not contain tomatoes! Yeah, for me!

I had 3 children taste-test them and the 9 year old, who likes spicy things enjoyed the BBQ Bliss and Thai Ginger the best. She never had a ginger chip before and stated it tasted much like the BBQ. But I know the ginger is more healthier, as I recently read that ginger is great for inflammation.

The 7 year old liked them all, and the 5 year old shied away from the spicier flavors: BBQ Bliss and Ginger, however, she did not have any “on fire” reaction to either. They are all mildly flavored.

I ate more of the Sea Salt flavored chips, as sea salt is lower in sodium. However, my favorite flavors are the BBQ Bliss and Thai Ginger. I can eat all the flavors, all day long! (I wish!)
