Gluten Free Buffalo Wings Recipe (Mild or Spicy)

This gluten free buffalo wings recipe isn’t much different than traditional buffalo wings recipes, except for the brand used. I do, however, provide two different sauce recipes, hot or mild. I also provide two methods of cooking, frying or baking. No matter how you make them, these are awesome wings! Enjoy!

Baked or Fried Gluten Free Buffalo Wings Recipe (Mild or Spicy)

A gluten free buffalo wings recipe with mild or hot & spicy sauce. Bake them or fry them, and add a dipping sauce or serve plain. Make them your way!

Ingredients:

  • 16 small chicken wings (about one pound)
  • 5 Tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 small clove garlic, minced (optional if using ketchup)
  • 1/4 cup gluten free barbecue sauce or ketchup (Heinz)(or gluten free hot sauce, for super spicy) (I like to use Bufalo chipotle sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon hot sauce (Tabasco), or to taste

Instructions:

  1. Remove wing tips (small portion from wings) and discard or use to make chicken stock.
  2. Transfer the wings to a medium-sized saucepan and cover with water, about 1-inch over the wings. Bring to a boil and simmer until tender, about 10 minutes.
  3. Transfer wings to a paper towel-lined plate and pat dry.
  4. Transfer dry wings to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate until completely dry.
  5. If baking, preheat the oven to 425°F. (If frying, preheat a deep-fryer or heavy skillet to 375°F with enough oil to cover the wings.)
  6. Transfer baking sheet to oven on middle rack and bake for about 20 minutes, turn over and then bake an additional 25 minutes. (Alternatively, fry in batches until crisp, about 15 minutes.)
  7. While the wings are baking, add butter and if using, garlic, to a large bowl, and microwave to melt. (Alternatively, use a saucepan.)
  8. Add ketchup and hot/Tabasco sauce, or just hot sauce, for spicy, add wings and toss to coat.
  9. Serve the wings warm, as they are or with [Gluten Free Ranch Dressing Recipe| or blue cheese dressing for a dip.
