Kellogg’s Gluten Free Rice Krispies Review and Breakfast Giveaway ($70 Value)

Kellogg’s Gluten Free RIce Krispies® have been discontinued.

In honor of National Celiac Awareness Month, Kellogg’s ® is sponsoring Gluten Free Rice Krispies giveaways across multiple gluten free blogs. They first partnered up with dietitian,  Tricia Thompson, MS, RD, to debunk gluten free myths. Read all about it on The New York Times website: A Favorite American Food Helps Families Living A Gluten-Free Lifestyle During National Celiac Awareness Month. I was one of the gluten free blogs asked to spread the word, not only to raise awareness, but they are also sponsoring an incredible giveaway, as well! And it’s not all Rice Krispies. It’s an entire Breakfast Kit, which they sent to me as well! While the Rice Krispies were Snap! Crackle! and Pop! ‘in, I was snapping photos. See them below, as well as the Breakfast Kit.

Gluten Free Rice Krispies BreakfastUPDATE – May 29, 2013:

I just read on the FAQs page of Kellogg’s site the following information:

At this time, we do not offer products suitable for consumers on a gluten- or wheat-free diet. All of our products are produced in facilities that also manufacture wheat-containing products. We cannot guarantee that any products are 100% gluten- or wheat-free.

Kellogg’s® Eggo™ Syrup and Kellogg’s™ Fruit Flavored Snacks are formulated gluten and wheat-free and may be acceptable for consumers on restricted diets. However, these products are produced in facilities that also manufacture other products that contain wheat. Consumers have varying sensitivities to gluten, and although we follow approved standardized manufacturing practices, some consumers are so sensitive that even wheat dust that may be in the product can result in a reaction. Therefore, we do not have any products that are gluten-free.

Kellogg’s® Corn Pops and Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies might be suitable, depending on gluten sensitivity. Corn Pops have a very small amount of wheat starch added, and Rice Krispies have a small amount of malt flavoring, made from barley. Check with your personal physician to determine if these products are suitable for you.

There’s a kid in all of us. When I first received my Rice Krispies Breakfast Kit my first thought was that of when I was a child. I would have loved to have owned my own Rice Krispies bowl! The next thought was, “I have to send these to my grandchildren. They will love them!” The bowls have three decades of the Snap!™ Crackle!™ Pop!™ characters from the 1940s, 1970s and 2000’s.

Gluten Free Rice Krispies Breakfast

It was so fun to set the table with all of the high quality placements I was sent, along with the personally embossed napkins with an “S” for Spacher, napkin rings, Rice Krispies cereal bowls and my very own Rice Krispies coffee mug! – and let’s not forget the main star, a box of Gluten Free Rice Krispies! I can picture the lucky winner feeding their kids Rice Krispies and drinking a cup of coffee, or herbal tea in my case, in this mug, while their kids eat Gluten Free Rice Krispies from the new, fun bowls! So fun!

The Review

With no more kids at home anymore, Kellogg’s Gluten Free Rice Krispies are just how I remembered the gluten ones to be…Snap! Crackle! and Pop! – but much louder than I remember! It seemed extra fresh! I defrosted some frozen strawberries and topped it off with some birch derived xylitol – no sugar here! It was delicious!

I am supposed to stay away from anything with preservatives due to my multiple food allergies, but in this day and age, it’s hard to avoid sometimes. However, I do indulge here and there, and this day was one of them. And my taste buds were so glad that I did! The texture of the brown rice krispies appeared to be more substantial and filling than the regular ones I remember. Brown rice contains more fiber than white rice, therefore a healthier choice. If I had kids at home still I’d feed them the gluten free version versus the regular any day!

It’s wonderful that Kellogg’s has provided our gluten intolerant/sensitive and celiac community with a gluten free brand name cereal that we can trust. Every lot of Gluten Free Rice Krispies are tested for gluten cross-contamination under 20 ppm (parts per million).

Gluten Free Rice Krispies Ingredients:

Whole grain brown rice, sugar, contains 2% or less of salt, BHT for freshness.

Vitamins and Minerals: Iron, vitamin C (ascorbic acid), vitamin E (alpha tocopherol acetate), niacinamide, vitamin A palmitate, vitamin B6 (pyridoxine hydrochloride), folic acid, Vitamin D, Vitamin B12.

40 Replies to “Kellogg’s Gluten Free Rice Krispies Review and Breakfast Giveaway ($70 Value)”

  1. I made Rice Krispie Treats with the gluten free Rice Krispies and gave them to my friend in the hospital fighting cancer. Her husband was not going to try them because of “gluten free”. He finally did and I always love to hear “This does not taste gluten free!”. He would always ask for them after that!! By the way, what does gluten taste like? I must have forgotten after all these years!

  2. Snap, Crackle, and Pop! When I first saw them on a Gluten Free box, I swooned! My favorite, just for me!

  3. While it is great that they do test batches for PPM of gluten… are they made on the same lines as regular Rice Krispies? It would be nice to have an option that widely available (and not have to go to Whole Foods if I want to make Krispie Treats).

  4. I’m entering this giveaway because gf rice krispies + gf marshmallows = gf rice krispie treats and how can you go wrong there??

  5. I’m entering the giveaway because Rice Krispies bring me back to my childhood. Well into my fourth decade, believe me I need all the help I can get remembering those simpler times.

  6. I am entering this giveaway because I really like those daisy napkin holders. I’d use them at every dinner party, even if my husband doesn’t like them.

  7. I wish to enter for my son and myself both of whom have pretty had gluten intolerance issues. For my son he was having developmental delays and when we took him off gluten it was like we had a whole new kid. I tried it as well and the chronic stomach and digestive problems disappeared for me. Gluten free rice krispies are nice as he is able to eat the same thing as I did growing up and he would love the special bowls.

  8. We would love to win this contest because:
    1. It started on my birthday… wouldn’t that be a fun birthday present?
    2. My son is Celiac and loves Rice Krispy Treats! What an awesome way to make a sweet afterschool snack!

  9. I’m so glad they came out with gluten free Rice Krispies! Eating is getting more fun with all the gluten free foods available now! And that actually taste good, other family members can’t tell!

  10. because my daughter likes rice krispie treats and they taste just like the regular ones

  11. Would love to win this giveaway. I have always enjoyed Rice Crispy cereal and when I found out about my Gluten situation I have not had any. I am ever so tempted every day by them treats that sit at the gas station near work.
I actually collect cartoon styled dishware and this would really set my collection up very nicely.
If I don’t win will we have a chance to purchase the dishware? We don’t have GF Rice Crispies available near my location yet.
    Thanks Martin

  12. I wish to enter this give away because the majority of my family has had to go gluten free. I believe this would be a great morale booster in our new journey through gluten free eating.

  13. I would love to win because I recently went gluten free and I’ve eaten Rice Krispies all my life. Would sure feel great to have a friendly reminder of what use to be.

  14. I love the gf Kelloggs Rice Krispies-it was great to make real Rice Krispie Bars after going without or using a substitute! :)

  15. Because my kids favorite food in the world is Rice Krispies, we need to buy stock in this company… or grow our own krispies.. :)

  16. I think all your recipes are awesome, avacado mashed potatoes are out of this world!!!! I would love win this gluten free give away and be able to make my favorite recipes using Rice Krispies again :-)

  17. What an awesome giveaway! One of our favorite breakfast/lunch treats is yogurt topped with fresh strawberries and rice krispies. I hate splurging on the GF ones at the store, but I feel so deprived if the kids can eat this meal and I can’t! I am so grateful that they are making a GF version of my favorite breakfast cereal. Thanks for hosting!

  18. I have three special needs children and would really like to try this because eating chex is getting boring. lol
Have always loved eating rice crispies treats now to make them gluten free would be awesome and have a great bowl to eat them in would be fantastic.

  19. I just love Kellogg’s Gluten Free Rice Crispies! I, of course, eat them in a bowl with milk (for breakfast, lunch, or dinner!), but I also use them for other things. I especially like to grind them up and use in place of bread crumbs. It’s really fun to use them in meatloaf– you can still hear them “snap, crackle, and pop” when you mix it all together! I am really glad that the larger name brand companies are offering gluten free options. It really makes my life a lot easier!
