Red Tornado Recipe

In yesterday’s episode of The Doctor Oz Show, April 26, 2010, a bar tender shared this red tornado recipe. It’s a great juice recipe and is naturally gluten-free. Made from many fresh fruit and vegetable juices, it sounds so yummy! Add vodka or not. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 2 large leaves of basil crushed
  • 3 oz. tangerine juice
  • 1-1/2 oz. pineapple juice
  • 1 oz. apple juice
  • 1-1/4 ox. beet juice
  • vodka (optional)

Instructions

  1. Crush the basil leaves and add to cocktail shaker.
  2. Add juices.
  3. Add ice and shake.
  4. Strain into a glass.
  5. Serve in a martini glass.

NOTE: If you are seeking a gluten-free vodka, try Chopin. Chopin is made from potato instead of wheat or rye. It’s very pricey. I don’t really care for the taste, but in sweet drinks you do not taste it much anyway.

Sorry no photo today. I am allergic to tangerines, therefore, cannot make it per the recipe above. I will make it soon without the tangerine juice and post a photo.
