Resources for Gluten-Free Restaurants: U.S. and International

Though summer is over and many of us won’t need a gluten-free restaurant as often as we do during the summer, we all have been there before. You’re on the road for hours and starving, but afraid to stop at a restaurant for fear of having to either experience gluten cross-contamination or the dreadful having to explain your diet to a wait person who is absolutely clueless!

There a number of gluten-free restaurant blogs, websites, etc. I thought I’d list some of
them for you. See the list below. My recent favorite is Gluten Free Registry. And when all else fails, I seek out the nearest Whole Foods, but not always nearby when on a long highway. I hope you find this useful.

Gluten Free Registry – Search by city and state in the U.S.

Gluten Free Registry International – Search Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Guam, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Hunary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Puerto Rico, Spain, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Virgin Islands (British).

GIG Restaurant Guide (GIG = Gluten Free Intolerance Group of North America) – Search by state or zip code within a particular mile radius.

  1. We eat out a lot more than we should and have learned to use the internet when we are away from our home area. I too like to use the gluten free registry. We started writing gluten free restaurant reviews of places we eat that are not chain stores. The more accurate information that can be posted is always a good thing. Thanks for the links.
