Soft Gluten Free Pretzels with Sesame Seeds and Cheese

To reduce the sodium in standard Gluten Free Pretzels, I created this recipe for my husband. He’s a pretzel lover and finds this recipe to be just as satisfying as my traditional-style recipe. He finds the texture of these gluten free pretzels to mirror their gluten counterparts. I hope you enjoy them just as much.

Soft Gluten Free Pretzels with Sesame Seeds and Cheese

Bring elegance to soft gluten free pretzels by changing their shape, which creates more chewy goodness. Then top with them sesame seeds and your favorite cheese. Your guests, friends, and family will feel special, even the gluten-eaters!

Ingredients:

  • 1 recipe Soft Gluten Free Pretzels
  • Sesame seeds
  • Shredded cheese (I enjoy Monterey Jack. Fresh Parmesan crisps up more) (For dairy-free, use Daiya or Follow Your Heart. Trader Joe's also carries one.)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare and bake the soft gluten free pretzels at the above link. However, make the ropes half the length and roll them thinner on both ends. Then, instead of twisting them, create a narrow U-shape. When it's time to add the salt, instead, sprinkle some sesame seeds on top of the dough.
  2. Once baked, preheat the broiler to high.
  3. Top each with a some shredded cheese and place under the broiler until the cheese melts and turns golden brown, about 1 minute. Serve immediately.
