Misinterpretation of Copyright Laws: Many individuals have misinterpreted the copyright laws on recipes. Many authors and online publications think that they can republish another’s recipe as long as they reword the instructions and that it is okay to list the same exact ingredients and quantities. The copyright law refers to an example of ingredients in a product and that relisting or using the same ingredients does not infringe on the copyrights of another.

The U.S. Copyright Office states in on their website’s FAQs page,

A mere listing of ingredients is not protected under copyright law. However, where a recipe or formula is accompanied by substantial literary expression in the form of an explanation or directions, or when there is a collection of recipes as in a cookbook, there may be a basis for copyright protection.”

Nowhere does the above law state that you can use the exact same amounts of ingredients. In products, this is known as a trade secrets and are not published for that reason. Therefore, it would be easy to presume that anyone could adapt another’s recipe as long as the same quantities of ingredients were not used and that reproducing or republishing the same exact quantities from a recipe would be an infringement upon an author’s or publisher’s copyrights.

In addition, the law uses a cookbook as an example. This could include a website or ebook as well.

Refunds:

While Carla would love to refund your money if you are not satisfied, she prefers to avoid this altogether. Instead, please Contact Carla to ask any questions before purchasing. There are multiple reviews that you may read here.

You can view the recipe index to find out if there are any recipe categories in which you may be interested. It is an extensive list and includes recipes that avoid specific food intolerances. Currently, there are only a few sugar-free recipes. About 95% of the recipes may be made soy-free. Those few that are not may be made soy-free using the members’ Substitutions Page.

There are no refunds.
