Yield: Serves 3 - 5
A flavorful gluten free pork chops recipe with gravy recipe using optional mushrooms, wine, and cream.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup brown rice flour
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper blend
1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt
5 boneless pork chops with bone or boneless, excess fat removed
2 Tablespoons olive oil
1/2 lb. shitake mushrooms, thinly sliced and roughly chopped (optional)
1 1/2 cups gluten-free chicken broth
1/2 cup dry white wine (I used Chardonay.) (for yeast-free diets, use more broth and add 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard to flour mixture.)
2 Tablespoons half & half (or heavy cream) (optional)
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
2 Tablespoons brown rice flour
Instructions:
In a gallon size resealable bag, combine rice flour, garlic powder, pepper and salt together.
Add pork chops and shake to coat.
Preheat a heavy skillet with oil, add pork chops and mushroom where possible. Brown both sides of chops and saute mushrooms, turning mushrooms often.
Add broth, wine, half & half, onion powder, and saute until tender over medium-low heat for about 25 minutes.
Sprinkle in 2 tablespoons rice flour and stir over high heat until thick, about 1 - 2 minutes. Then lower heat and simmer for 2 minutes.
Serve with mashed potatoes or your favorite side dish, along with a salad or vegetable.
Tips
If you enjoy a darker gravy, add a splash of Kitchen Bouquet or Gravy Master. They are both gluten-free.
