Gluten Free Skor Squares – Toffee Bars -Only 4 Ingredients

Making a sweet and salty snack has never been easier. Using just four ingredients, you can make a nutty-tasting, chewy caramel-like dessert bar with Skor bar bits inside and on top. They’re like Rice Krispy Treats but so much better! Kids of all ages, including adults, love them. Cut them smaller and serve them like you would expensive chocolates.

Hershey’s Skor Toffee Bits. Ingredients: sugar, butter, chopped almonds, milk, milk chocolate (milk chocolate contains: sugar, milk ingredients, cocoa butter, unsweetened chocolate, lactose, soy lecithin, artificial flavor), salt.

Ingredients

  • 1 7.4-ounce package Schar Gluten Free Table Crackers (or other cracker brand or crunchy cereal without soy or corn, if needed)
  • 1-1/4 cups Skor bits
  • 10 ounces* sweetened condensed milk 1 cup + 2 tablespoons or 300 g
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips 170 g or 6 ounces

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F with a shelf in the center. Line an 8 x 8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Place the crackers in a gallon-sized zipper storage bag and seal. Using a rolling pin, crush the crackers until most of them are double the size of the Skor Bits, about the size of Rice Krispies. Transfer them to a bowl.
  3. Add the Skor Bits and stir to evenly distribute.
  4. Pour the condensed milk on top and stir until all of the ingredients are moist.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes. (No toothpick test required as it will be gooey.)
  6. Remove from the oven and add the chocolate chips to the top of the bars as soon as they come out of the oven. Spread the.chocolate using a silicone;rubber spatula. Then, set aside to cool in a wire rack for at least 10 minutes.

  7. Refrigerate, uncovered, for 50 – 60 minutes or until the chocolate is completely set.

  8. Cut into small squares and serve. Store in an airtight container on the countertop at room temperature or in the refrigerator during hot weather.

Tips

*I used a Canadian brand of sweetened condensed milk that was 300 g (by weight), which is equal to about 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons. In the United States, most brands of sweetened condensed milk are available in 14-ounce cans.

  • When do you use the chocolate chips ? To go into the oven or when it comes out and the mixture is still hot, melt and spread .
    Thanks

    • Barbara,

Add the chocolate chips to the top of the bars as soon as they come out of the oven and spread on top. Then, set aside to cool.
