I received a couple of Udi’s Gluten Free Pizza Crust to review. Because I am allergic to tomatoes, I often end up having a no sauce pizza or a pesto pizza. This time I came up with a sauce I can have, taco sauce without tomatoes! Why didn’t I ever think of that before, I do not know why! My husband tasted my pizza and liked it better than his! This recipe is much lower in sodium than most pizzas, too! Udi’s gluten free pizza crust made it delicious, as well! Now when you don’t have time to make your own gluten free pizza dough, you know what to buy.

Gluten Free Taco Sauce Recipe
If you do not have any gluten-free taco seasoning just combine the following ingredients:
1 teaspoon each: chili powder, paprika, dehydrated onion flakes, oregano, cumin, garlic powder, sea salt 1/2 - 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes 1 Tablespoon sugar.
When I make this I don't usually measure anything. I will do so and post the exact recipe soon.
You may top it all off with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, etc.

I am trying Udi frozen pizza crusts for the first time. I love your idea of making a taco pizza so am going to try your recipe. When searching for how to use the frozen pizza crust rounds I found one site that said to defrost the crust in the refrig for 24 hours before using/baking. It doesn't sound like you did this. This is one of the times I have had trouble finding how tos for this type of product. Thanks for a great ideas for pizza.
Carla’s reply,
“ Sue,
“It’s always best to defrost slowly in the refrigerator to prevent bacteria growth. However, when I’m in a hurry and don’t think in advance to do so, I risk it and defrost at room temperature. In this case, I’m using a rack to prevent the bottom for becoming soggy, when the condensation develops.
“I hope yours turned out well.
Carla”
Aw c'mon, really? Taco pizzas ... now how cool is that, we're so going to try this, thanks for the great post!
This is a great idea! We produce a gluten free pizza kit, and cook up at store demos, and I'm always looking for new recipe ideas. Try this: unusual, sweet, kind of an hordevuer...on the crust put fig preserves, 1/2 mozzarella, 1/2 gorgonzola and walnuts. Really yummy, pretty rich.
Thanks Susan! I can picture your hors d' oeuvres being served an upscale affair. I bet everyone would love it! Great idea, a pizza kit! You'll have to sponsor a giveaway and I can do a review!
