Gluten Free Pizza Sauce Recipe

Ingredients:

• 2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
• 1/2 cup minced yellow onion
• 2 garlic cloves, minced or grated
• 1 (6-ounce) can gluten-free tomato paste
• 1 cup water
• 1 tablespoon agave syrup, or less to taste
• 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
• 1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram
• 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
• 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes, for heat (optional)

Instructions:

1. Preheat a small sauce pan over medium to medium-high heat. Add olive oil and swirl around to coat pan.
2. Lower heat and add onion. Stir occasionally and sauté until transparent, about 7 minutes. Add garlic and sauté an additional minute.
3. Add the remaining ingredients: tomato paste, water, agave, oregano, marjoram, basil, ground black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes; stir. Cover and simmer for about 20 minutes and until thickened. Use on gluten-free pizza crust, as a dip for soft gluten-free breadsticks, or on meatball or sausage sandwiches.
4. Freeze leftover sauce up to several months. Defrost in microwave on low.
