Here is an easy recipe for any event. Make a baked potato bar. You can have everyone make their own. All you have to do is supply the hot, baked potatoes. Rather than stabbing them and microwaving them, or just plopping washed potatoes in the oven, go one step further and make these. If you typically bake potatoes on 450°F, like I used to do, you’ll discover a new temperature that achieves better results. Enjoy! I know you and your guests will.

The Perfect Baked Potato & Fixings for Baked Potato Bar

51

Yield: Makes 12 servings

If you've never made baked potatoes this way, you're in for something special. Then get your guests to serve themselves. Learn the gluten free fixings for a potato bar!

Ingredients:

  • 12 Russet potatoes
  • 1 stick salted (or unsalted butter or oil), melted

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F with a rack placed in the center.
  2. Rinse and scrub the potatoes. (You may rub the dirt off using your hands or a vegetable scrubbing brush.) Pat them dry.
  3. Lightly brush each potato with melted butter and place on directly on the oven rack. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes, depending upon size.
  4. Pull out the rack and stab each potato with a knife, just in once place, to allow the steam to escape. Push the rack back in the oven and bake for an additional 20 to 30 minutes or until tender.
  5. Serve immediately with Gluten Free Cheese Sauce, shredded cheese (Daiya for dairy-free), gluten free bacon* (Applegate Natural, Hormel Black Label or Hormel Bacon Bits in jar or package), gluten free sour cream* (most are except for some lite or light), gluten free Greek yogurt (I use FAGE), butter, gluten free dairy free buttery spread* (Earth Balance) or gluten free margarine* (Smart Balance), sliced green onion.
