Living Without Magazine

Living Without Magazine is not only tailored to the gluten-free diet, but dairy-free and other food allergies, such as shellfish, nuts, soy and more! The most recent issue, June-July 2011, contains an article on “A Celiac Pill” which is now in Phase II trial  (which I am researching and will publish an article soon); Restaurant Rules for Children; Special Need, Special Diet; Safety Tips; Places to Dine; Favorite Foods for Kids; The Gut-Brain Connection; Parents’ Tool Kit; and so much more! It appeared so interesting I subscribed myself! Definitely worth it!

  • you [Living Without Magazine] address quite a few problems, but i'm surprised that there isn't more sugarfree options it would be nice to bake something with a recipe that doesn't call for sugar. gluten free is great, but sugar is a HUGE NO NO for everyone on the planet, and no one addresses this. there's a million recipes out there that are gluten free but not SUGAR FREE, and that is as important, as gluten free. i can only eat honey, and stevia, no other sweeteners are acceptable for me. could you put anything in your magazine that doesn't have sugar, but is still good to eat.....

    • Hi indigo,

Living Without is not my magazine. You can address this issue with them at http://www.livingwithout.com/. I understand your need for sugar-free gluten-free recipes. Your concern has been addressed by another gluten free blog: http://simplysugarandglutenfree.com/ She posts all gluten-free sugar-free recipes. I have no doubt you'll be able to find some recipes using only stevia or honey. I hope this helps.

For those that use agave, just know that most recipes are easily converted with the following ratio of agave to sugar:
      1. Use 2/3 cup agave for each 1 cup of sugar.
      2. Reduce the liquid in the recipe by about 1/4 cup.
Because agave tends to brown more than white table sugar, you may need to reduce the oven temperature in baked goods and just bake a little longer.

      Carla
