Commercial Yeast-Free Gluten Free Flatbread (Contains Yogurt)

While watching the Paula Deen Show, I saw her grilling some flatbread, made from a homemade dough. I just had to create a gluten free flatbread recipe and give it a go, myself! My Facebook survey resulted in majority people wanting a yeast-free gluten free recipe and preferred baked (soft), rather than grilled (crispy). So, that is exactly what I created! I was so excited how beautiful it looked, but it tasted just as good! The bread varies in height between 1″ to 1 1/2″. You can use this gluten free flatbread for sandwiches and it makes a great replacement for sourdough bread at the dinner table. You can dip it in olive oil and balsamic. I made sandwiches for dinner with chicken breasts, grilled onion and bell pepper (hubby had cheese, too) and created a balsamic dressing to coat the inside of the bread. I wanted to add avocado, but it would have been just too high for me. It was delish! – my new fave! Enjoy!

Gluten Free Empanadas

Empanadas are a popular pastry found in the Caribbean, the Philippines, Latin America, Portugal, and Spain. The fillings are typically gluten-free. They are filled with various ingredients, whether sweet or savory, depending upon which part of the world they are made. They tend to be on the dry side, therefore, I used a rich creamy, flaky dough in my gluten free empanadas. Adding a juicy filling is advised, however, it will most likely leak out of the pastry dough and burn while baking. Cheese is a common ingredient in savory empanadas to avoid this dryness, and prevent leaking. You can add ground meat: chicken, beef with cheese, or plain cheese, along with sauteed vegetables and spices. If you find them dry you can make a dip, as well -an avocado dip, salsa, sour cream, etc. This gluten-free recipe is made on the Argentina flavor side, yet a little different. What type of filling will you make? Sugar Free Dairy Free Gluten Free Doughnuts – Baked

I haven’t had a doughnut (donut) since I started my gluten-free diet. I didn’t really miss them, but enjoy the challenge of gluten-free baking. These gluten free doughnuts are baked, making them healthier than the standard recipes, as they are usually deep fried. In addition, some whole grain flours were used to provide additional health benefits, as well as agave and molasses. They taste much like the real thing! I think you’ll be very pleased. You can play around with this recipe substituting 1/4 cup of your favorite flour for one of the others. Add in your favorite baking seasonings or extracts, too. Experiment and have fun! I promised everyone, some time ago, gluten free yeast free recipes. Here is my new fave! Miniature gluten free hamburger buns, yeast free! I didn’t think they were going to be very good, as they are a little heavy, but oh my! – They are delicious! My husband and I had 3 as part of an early dinner today. Gluten Free Pizza Crust made with Polenta

While flipping through Food & Wine magazine I noticed a photo of a polenta pizza crust and suddenly found my mouth watering. I love polenta and pizza, but combining them is an ideal gluten free pizza crust for yours truly! Making gluten free polenta pizza crust is very easy. My husband and I were able to enjoy two different pizzas, both which cooked together in the oven. How simple is that? Gluten Free Strawberry Sorbet

Strawberry Sorbet (Naturally Gluten Free)

It’s strawberry season again and I am delighted! Sorbet is gluten free, naturally, but not always egg-free. This strawberry sorbet recipe includes several choices of ingredients. Due to my citrus allergies I used cream of tartar in place of lemon juice, but if I could have use lemon juice, and suggest you do for a more flavorful sorbet. Pineapple juice or orange juice will also work well. As a thickening agent you can either use a food starch or egg white, whichever works best for your diet. If you are watching your sugar intake or prefer a refined sugar-free version you may use agave nectar/syrup in place of simple syrup (sugar and water heated). Adding a natural food coloring will make it look more appetizing, but it is not necessary. Select Tea makes natural ones. If you do use food coloring, you are not limited to red. On a gluten-free diet? This gluten free beer list should come in haindy for you. Beer is normally brewed with barley, something which celiacs and those with gluten-intolerance cannot consume. However, there are gluten-free beers on the market that actually tastes very similar to regular beer. Some are malted and others are not. Brewers can use either rice, sorghum, buckwheat or corn instead of barley. Sorghum and buckwheat are the most used. What you should be aware oHambleton f is that some manufacturers use barley. They state that the barley disappears during brewing, and when tested for gluten it measures up to the other gluten-free beers. Below you will find my gluten free beer list with descriptions. Gluten Free Plum Barbecue Sauce and Steak Rub Recipes

Steak and Homemade Gluten Free Plum Barbecue Sauce

It’s gilling season, and a good gluten free barbecue sauce (cross-contamination free) may be hard to come by, especially a barbecue sauce without tomatoes (allergies). However, I enjoy my Gluten Free Barbecue Sauce Without Tomatoes. This time, since I had some homemade plum sauce already made, I thought it would make a great gluten free barbecue sauce substitute, along with other ingredients and a good steak rub. It came out wonderful!  I’ll use it on broiled steaks, as well. I don’t know if I will ever make a plain steak again!

Gluten Free Egg Substitutes

For those who are also completely egg-free, you may find this list of egg substitutes very helpful. There are 3 basic purposes of using egg in a recipe: to moisten, to bind ingredients together, or to leaven (rise). Depending on the purpose, will depend upon the egg substitute used. Using an egg substitute is a great way to lower your cholesterol and calorie intake, as well. I especially like the use of flax seed meal as an egg replacer. Though agar-agar works very well, too, it is quite expensive. I am constantly discovering new gluten free egg substitutes. So check back often. I usually add a dated update for new discoveries.
