From the Spacher house to yours, happy Easter Gluten Free Easter everyone! While spending time this weekend with my family, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continue support, and wish you a wonderful Easter day. Continue reading “Happy Gluten Free Easter!”
Gluten Free Ham Glaze – Honey Mustard
If you’ve tried other gluten free recipes for glazed ham and were not satisfied, you may find this gluten free ham glaze recipe just up your alley. It is a bit different than others, as it contains apple cider vinegar for a slightly tangier zing. However, it contains plenty of honey for sweetness, and a tab of butter to brown your ham well. I hope you all have a wonderful Easter holiday! ~ Carla
Gluten Free Zabaglione with Raspberries and Biscotti
Known by different names in different parts of the world, this custard sauce is called zabaglione in Italian. It is a thin custard flavored with a bit of sweet wine, usually Marsala, and is typically served atop fruit. You may, however, serve this sauce over a pastry or any dessert dish you desire. It is traditionally served with biscotti, an Italian cookie. Being half Italian, I had never tried zabaglione, less than gluten free zabaglione. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Gluten Free Frittata with Spinach Potato and Cheese
If you’re serving Easter brunch, this gluten free frittata would make an excellent addition to your menu. You may multiple the ingredients and make it in a large dish to feed a crowd. Some become confused with similar recipes such as a quiche or omelette. An omelette is folded, a quiche contains a crust, and a frittata is usually mixed up with the added ingredients. You may add meat, vegetables, cheese, pasta, potatoes and more to any of the above. They are delicious. I find a quiche to be more appealing, aesthetically, though you can create a very aesthetic frittata, as well. I provide the technique below. Enjoy! Gluten Free Honey Graham Blondies (Egg-Free with Dairy-Free Options)
For the bottom layer of these gluten free blondies, or dessert bars, if you wish, I used my gluten free graham cracker recipe. I added a bit more honey and butter to soften the crust. You may add sweetened condensed milk, or for dairy-free, coconut milk and honey. After that you top it with your favorite toppings: chocolate chips, nuts, oatmeal, and/or shredded coconut. I skipped the coconut due to allergies. Of course, if you’re dairy-free you’ll use your favorite brand of dairy-free chocolate chips. I’ve listed the most popular, easy to melt brand below. Once baked and cooled, you have yourself treats for home or on-the-go! And they are made egg-free! Enjoy! Continue reading “Gluten Free Honey Graham Blondies (Egg-Free with Dairy-Free Options)”
Gluten Free Waldorf Salad
I thought you’d appreciate a choice of a different salad for your Easter dinner. Apples are always refreshing, and the well known waldorf salad is always a bit hit. It was created by a chef at the old Waldorf Hotel, which later became the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. I have written this recipe so that you may control the amount of dressing used. Add as little or as much lettuce as you desire. Some individuals enjoy their waldorf salad heavily coated with dressing, while others only like a tad bit of dressing. If you decide to use yogurt to make a gluten free waldorf salad, ensure your yogurt is gluten free. Meanwhile, if you haven’t ever tried one, now’s the time. You can impress your guests with very little effort. Continue reading “Gluten Free Waldorf Salad”

Floating Island – Poached French Meringue with Custard (Naturally Gluten Free)
A floating island is a French dessert consisting of thin vanilla custard with a poached ball of meringue balls, dumplings if you wish, floating on top. Top them with your choice of several sauces below. I chose a bit of cherry sauce from a can of gluten free cherry pie filling in addition to chocolate sauce. Because a floating island is filled with egg protein, it definitely makes for a healthier dessert compared to starch-filled alternatives. I hope you enjoy this recipe. Get creative in the kitchen today! What will you top yours with? Continue reading “Floating Island – Poached French Meringue with Custard (Naturally Gluten Free)”
Gluten Free Angel Food Cake
Cake flour is used in angel food cakes because it contains low protein, which means less gluten. This makes baking a gluten free angel food cake ideal! Because cake flour is a finer texture than regular wheat flour, it is extremely important that you use a superfine gluten free flour for this recipe. I used my Gluten Free All-Purpose Flour Blend, which is made up of superfine white rice flour. You’ll find the link below. I use it in most of my baking recipes. However, I did not use my Gluten Free Cake Flour Blend recipe in this cake, as it contains leaveners such as baking soda and baking powder, which you do not want to add to an angel food cake. Angel food cake uses egg whites as the leavener, and a bit of cream of tartar to stabilize the egg whites and prevent them from drying out. It contains no fat, making this an ideal dessert for waistline watchers! Continue reading “Gluten Free Angel Food Cake”
Gluten Free Easter Bread
It is an Italian tradition to make an Easter bread, which is usually on the sweet side. This gluten free Easter bread recipe is slightly sweet, but not very. Feel free to add additional sugar, if desired. I provide you with instructions on how to color your eggs using simple food coloring to the choices of braiding or twisting the dough. Make one large loaf to use as center piece or make mini versions for several tables if you have a large group to feed. Either way, I hope you and your family enjoy this festive treat! I hope you all have a wonderful Easter!
Be sure to read the comments below the recipe for variations from others who have made this recipe. Continue reading “Gluten Free Easter Bread”
