Stove Top Chili Fries Recipe: Spicy or Mild

I was thinking about whipping up some of my Indian fries with turmeric, but had decided to turn this into a gluten free chili fries recipe. You may add cheese or not, however, these are very tasty on their own. The mustard is the key, here. Any of the spices, other than chili powder, such as cumin and red peppers can go to the wayside if making this for children. This chili fries recipe is my way of having junk food without all of the chemicals, added sugar and gluten cross-contamination issues. Continue reading “Stove Top Chili Fries Recipe: Spicy or Mild”

That’s it Gluten Free Fruit Bars Review and Giveaway

Looking for gluten free snack bars that are healthy? Simply put the That’s it.TM gluten-free fruit bars are simply delicious. (period) With only 2 ingredients, fruit and fruit (apple and another fruit), along with 2 whole servings of fruit in each bar, how can you go wrong? The bars are soft and chewy. Both my husband and I positively enjoyed them. They are paired with apple, which makes a lovely pair with all of their flavors. You can eat them plain or cut or tear them up and use them in additional recipes you already makes. I can picture them in a bowl of granola and yogurt, in cereal, or even as a substitute in my gluten free snack bars in which I usually use dates. To me, each bite tastes like a natural, healthy, gummy, as in gummy bears. My husband doesn’t experience them that way, though. But he’s a big fan of gummies. You just can’t mess with that! This is something we would be proud to give a kid – and know they’d enjoy it. We both give these gluten-free fruit bars a big thumbs up! Gluten Free Falafel with Cucumber Sauce

Falafel Lettuce Wrap

Falafel, which are popular in the Middle East, is now served all over the world as a replacement for meat, normally have a cake-like texture to them, similar to doughnuts. The texture of this gluten free falafel is something you’ve probably never experienced before, but both my husband and I really enjoyed this. I normally would have cast this recipe aside because it is not the traditional texture inside, but we enjoyed it more than the usual. It has a creamy, almost bean-like texture inside and crispy on the outside. I added a few unusual ingredients, and I am really glad that I did. I hope you enjoy my new version of gluten-free falafel. I’ve included my cucumber dipping sauce, too! Continue reading “Gluten Free Falafel with Cucumber Sauce”

Gluten Free Meatloaf with Spinach and Cherry Red Wine Glaze

Glazed Gluten Free Meatloaf Roulad Stuffed with Spinach

It’s time to add (or hide) more veggies to your gluten free recipes. And what better dish to add them to than a gluten free meatloaf? (This is so moist and tasty!) You’ll increase your fiber, lessen your fat and calorie intake and get more nutrients at the same time. And don’t skip the veggies on the side thinking you have your sufficient intake. It is now suggested rather than loading your plate with one third vegetables, that if you increase it to half, you’ll be much healthier. Gluten Free White Sandwich Bread Recipe – an experiment w/superfine rice flour

Having had a few requests for a gluten free white sandwich bread recipe, I thought I’d create one, seeing that I had to bake bread anyway. My birthday’s coming up and why shouldn’t I give myself a little treat, right? It turned out incredibly well, if I don’t say so myself. I can’t describe the soft texture well enough when it first came out of the oven. Just incredible! That’s the only word I can think of for this bread. Unfortunately, it becomes much too heavy and starchy as it cools. This is an article more on what not to do. Gluten Free Soy Free Soy Sauce Substitute

It’s difficult enough finding a gluten free soy sauce, let alone a gluten free soy free soy sauce. One does exist, though. South River Miso makes a gluten free soy free soy sauce substitute from chickpeas, Miso Tamari, chickpea flavor. It is supposed to be so good that they limit your purchase quantity because it takes at least 3 months to make. Their products are unpasteurized, living foods, rich in enzymes and beneficial microorganisms. They start shipping this year on September 15, 2011. I still need to contact them to find out if they avoid cross-contamination, though, as I see they make a barley miso, as well. I’ll call them and update this page when I find out, hopefully today or early next week. Meanwhile, you can make your own gluten free soy free soy sauce substitute.
