Delicious Gluten Free Chinese BBQ Pork (Soy Free and Tomato Free)

Chinese BBQ Pork

This Chinese BBQ pork recipe may be made soy free when using my soy free barbecue sauce recipe which calls for my soy free soy sauce recipe; or with the use of any gluten free soy sauce or barbecue sauce. Traditionally, Chinese BBQ pork does not call for tomatoes or ketchup, though some use it. This recipe is tomato free. And if you’re not on a gluten free diet, of course, you may use any brands you desire. This recipe calls for a slow cooker (crockpot), and may be followed by broiling the meat, which is optional. As you can see in the photo that it is sticky, and you may make it crisp on the outside, if you wish. No matter how you prepare it, in the end, it is flavorful, inside and out. I made this especially for my experiment with gluten free egg rolls. This Chinese BBQ pork recipe truly is a delight. Bring Chinese food back to your life with this delicious gluten free recipe! Chinese Soy Free Gluten Free Barbecue Sauce Marinade

Gluten Free Soy Free Chinese Barbecue Sauce

It took a bit of research to create this Asian gluten free barbecue sauce. Traditionally, an Asian barbecue sauce recipe will call for hoisin sauce, which is made up partly of soy beans and soy sauce, which usually is not gluten free, and certainly not soy free. Wanting one that is soy free is what brought me to create a portion of this recipe. The main reason is that I am developing a gluten free egg rolls recipe, and needed to get all my ducks in a row. I planned on using barbecued pork as one of the ingredients but wanted more of an authentic Asian gluten free barbecue sauce. Due to my allergies, it is taking a couple of gluten free recipes just to get started on the egg rolls, but if you’re not a soy-free dieter you may use store-bought items to make it easier. And I discovered that tomato or ketchup is not a traditional ingredient though you may find it used in some recipes. Stay tuned in for more on the egg rolls soon, if all turns out well. But definitely watch for my Chinese barbecue pork recipe. For now, I hope you enjoy this Chinese soy free gluten free barbecue sauce. Along with a little gluten free chicken broth, it’s going to make some awesome barbecued pork. It’s time to get those crockpots out! Flourless Gluten Free Cake Recipe: Made from Walnuts

Flourless Walnut Cake

This gluten free cake recipe turns out a very delicate, lightweight, yet moist, gluten free cake. One layer may be used as a coffee cake, without the heavy weight, or layer it, if you desire. It contains no oil, as the walnuts and egg supply sufficient amounts of fat. Garnish with honey or agave and top with walnuts or make 2 layers and frost with a cream cheese or white frosting. Whether serving with coffee, tea, or a glass of milk, this gluten free cake will surely hit the spot if you have a sweet tooth, and it is all free of highly refined sugar (depending upon if you use honey or agave) and is high in protein. Enjoy! And please read tips below before baking. Continue reading “Flourless Gluten Free Cake Recipe: Made from Walnuts”

High Protein Gluten Free Crepes – Blintz – Cheese Rolls (Flourless)

Image: Gluten Free Crepes

I needed to create a cheese rolls recipe, often known as blintz, using tapioca flour starch for an eHow video and thought I would include dairy-free options. Though you may use cow’s milk for a creamier crepe, dairy-free milk or even water will work. I filled my crepe with chopped sauteed Swiss chard with garlic, a mixture of sauteed onion and red bell pepper, topped with a little Gluten Free Bechamel Sauce. Though these are high in egg, they do not taste eggy. Fill with anything sweet or savory. A crepe filled with cottage cheese is known in the Jewish community as a blintz. Others fill them with cheese and roll them up like a burrito around all sides and bake until warm. Usually, they are then topped with a fruit sauce. Gluten free crepes are like an empty canvas. Create away! Continue reading “High Protein Gluten Free Crepes – Blintz – Cheese Rolls (Flourless)”

Gluten Free Bagels

Homemade Gluten Free Bagel

This gluten free bagels recipe turned out very light – delish! – closer to a bread, but may be made heavier by using 1 less egg white. I created a Whole Grain Gluten Free Bagels recipe a few months ago, but needed to perfect a bagel recipe for an upcoming video I am doing for eHow.com. (They’ve invited me to be gluten free recipe talent for them!) I decided to use flour and starches that were readily available to all and that were inexpensive. Future versions may contain different flours. Though not perfected yet, in the sense of smoothness on the outside, they turned out light, which was what I was going for. Newer bagel recipes contain holes, which you never used to see before. I think I’ll try rolling out the dough next time which should create a smoother finish. Meanwhile, enjoy these gluten free bagels. I enjoyed mine toasted. Yum! Continue reading “Gluten Free Bagels”
