Flaky Gluten Free Pie Crust Recipe (Pâté Brisée)

Flaky Gluten Free Crust Filled with Beef

Many of my Facebook followers have requested that I develop a gluten free pie crust recipe that does not call for superfine rice flour. This one turned out flakier than any other pie crust on this site. I have used it to make mini gluten free chicken pot pies, regular size, as well as a gluten free peach pie. They all turned out delicious. You will find that refrigerating the dough once rolled makes transferring the rolled out dough to the pie much easier. I have included that tip as well as another for ease in transferring the dough. Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy this recipe for many of your savory and sweet gluten free pies. Fourth of July Jello Dessert (Gluten Free)

Image: Gluten Free 4th of July Dessert

Jello is gluten free and enables you to make a very festive gluten free fourth of July jello dessert recipe. While I do not usually post any gelatin desserts, these are so adorable, I couldn’t resist. I just loved the red, white, and blue colors. You can create all sorts of fun things with this recipe: use different fruit, add fruit to the jello, tilt the glass while it’s chilling to create angled jello layers, and add vodka. I hope you all have a fun and safe 4th of July! Continue reading “Fourth of July Jello Dessert (Gluten Free)”

Flaky Gluten Free Croissants

Image: Gluten Free Croissant

I put off developing a recipe for gluten free croissants for way too long. After multiple requests, here it is! I used my new gluten free phyllo dough recipe. Though it calls for superfine rice flour, I will be experimenting in the future with non superfine gluten free flours. I baked them after my husband went to bed one night and left 5 out, loosely covered. with a note stating to have as many as he’d like. I made them with tapioca flour/starch, which I am allergic to. (I had a couple anyways. Oh my!) When I woke up the next morning they were all gone. That night be kept raving them about them. I have never heard him enjoy anything, gluten free, more than these. And he still eats gluten! Meanwhile, I will continue to improve upon this recipe each time I make them. I hope you enjoy them as much we have. Continue reading “Flaky Gluten Free Croissants”

Butternut Squash Gluten Free Ravioli with Creamy Garlic Sauce

Image: Gluten Free Butternut Squash Ravioli

I absolutely adore Pasta Prima’s Gluten Free Butternut Squash Ravioli, however, now that I realize I am allergic to tapioca I cannot have them. So, to the drawing board I went and the results were nothing but spectacular! Making homemade gluten free ravioli is definitely a weekend project for those who work, but you can also make the filling a couple of days in advance. My husband enjoyed his with my Italian Spaghetti Sauce and I used the creamy garlic sauce (recipe provided below). I hope you enjoy these gluten free ravioli, as well. They are definitely a treat! Roasted Butternut Squash

In preparation for my upcoming butternut squash ravioli recipe I wanted to share my new roasted butternut squash recipe with you. Of course, once I create the ravioli recipe, I will link to this recipe. It is naturally gluten free, does not contain any allergens, and is very yummy! If plan on pureeing this for any reason, consider using a portion of butternut squash and and a portion of sweet potatoes. It makes it thicker and creamier without the use of cream or cheese. Gluten Free Snickerdoodles

Image: Gluten Free Snickerdoodles

Fresh out of the oven or cooled, these gluten free snickerdoodles are to die for! Just like traditional snickerdoodles, they are a light, soft, sugary cookie with a crisp, chewy outer shell. The inside is not quite cake-like, but definitely not dense like regular cookies. They are chewier than cake. I surveyed my Facebook followers on how they enjoy their snickerdoodles. Due to the mixed results, I have added several tips at the bottom of this recipe so that you may adjust it according to your preferences. These are made my way. I hope you get to enjoy them your way! Gluten Free Ham Recipes from Leftovers

Image: Gluten Free Macaroni Cheese, Ham and Sour Cream

I thought since many of you served ham on Easter you would appreciate having some gluten free ham recipes to use up your leftover ham. They include breakfast to dinner and casseroles to empanadas. While many of these dishes contain cheese they can easily be made dairy-free and vegan by using dairy-free substitute cheese. Just be sure to use a gluten free brand. My favorite brand is Follow Your Heart. If you cannot locate this brand try the Daiya brand. It’s my next favorite. My favorite brand of gluten free pasta is Barilla and Jovial Egg Pasta.

Meanwhile, I hope you had a wonderful holiday with family and/or friends.

Gluten Free Ham Glaze – Honey Mustard

Image: Gluten Free Glazed Ham

If you’ve tried other gluten free recipes for glazed ham and were not satisfied, you may find this gluten free ham glaze recipe just up your alley. It is a bit different than others, as it contains apple cider vinegar for a slightly tangier zing. However, it contains plenty of honey for sweetness, and a tab of butter to brown your ham well. I hope you all have a wonderful Easter holiday! ~ Carla

Gluten Free Waldorf Salad

Image: Waldorf Salad

I thought you’d appreciate a choice of a different salad for your Easter dinner. Apples are always refreshing, and the well known waldorf salad is always a bit hit. It was created by a chef at the old Waldorf Hotel, which later became the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. I have written this recipe so that you may control the amount of dressing used. Add as little or as much lettuce as you desire. Some individuals enjoy their waldorf salad heavily coated with dressing, while others only like a tad bit of dressing. If you decide to use yogurt to make a gluten free waldorf salad, ensure your yogurt is gluten free. Meanwhile, if you haven’t ever tried one, now’s the time. You can impress your guests with very little effort. Continue reading “Gluten Free Waldorf Salad”
