Gluten-Free Cookbook Review and Giveaway: 125 Gluten-Free Vegetarian Recipes

I have had a number of requests from my readers and Facebook fans for a good vegetarian/vegan gluten-free cookbook. Carol Fenster’s recently published 125 Gluten-Free Vegetarian Recipes is now available to all! It not only provides us with typical vegetarian recipes, but is presented in the standard gluten-free cookbook fashion, providing us with all of reminders when to look for a gluten-free product. This is a great gluten-free cookbook whether you’re a vegetarian or not! And by the way, it contains bonus baking recipes for vegans!

Carol provides us with 7 reasons to eat a plant-based diet. A few of them are:

  • maintain a healthy weight
  • reduce the risk of heart disease
  • increase energy
  • improve digestion by increasing fiber and whole grains
  • overall well being

Of course there are the typical reasons why people choose a vegetarian diet, but I thought the ones listed above may give you food for thought.

So far I have made 2 of her recipes from this vegetarian and gluten-free cookbook:

Vegetarian and Gluten-Free Scones; and

Vegetarian and Gluten-Free Falafel and Dill Yogurt Sauce.

I have to tell you the scones were wonderful! And though I didn’t have any luck with the deep-fry method of the falafel, the baked method turned out great and was very flavorful. Though I may cut back on the cayenne in the dill yogurt sauce next time. I like just a little heat. My husband enjoyed them both very much! He’s devoured the scones. They sure were moist compared to most scones.

The publishers of 125 Gluten-Free Vegetarian Recipes has kindly offered to sponsor a giveaway of Carol’s new book. Check it out below. It’s very easy to enter! And for those of you new to blogging, your email address only shows up for me to view.  Good luck!

  1. I love vegan and vegetarian dishes – there is always so much room for creativity! I’ve never focused particularly on gluten-free dining, and am very interested to learn!

  2. I’m a vegetarian who can’t eat wheat. Not entirely gluten free but most recipes for baking etc become difficult as a result so I make mostly gluten free stuff.

  3. I would like to win the cookbook because I am a vegetarian celiac and always on the lookout for new recipe ideas. While there are some really good vegetarian and vegan websites out there, a lot of them use gluten ingredients in their recipes. It would also be nice to have a hard copy of some high-quality recipes instead of having to print them out.

  4. Enter me in the drawing. I’d love to try making the gluten-free scones. Getting used to baked goods that don’t use wheat as their base is taking longer than expected. This recipe book would make the transition easier.

  5. Just because we are gluten-free does not mean weight loss, I have found. I recently was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and now take a med for this; I was suffering from low energy, poor digestion and my mood was low. Being a celiac and avoiding gluten is a problem but with spreading awareness, thanks to your newsletter and Facebook page, Carla, plus new cookbooks being published for those who need a g-free diet, we are in luck! I wasn’t diagnosed until 2008 with Celiac Disease, and for years have struggled with digestive problems. Because of my hypothyroidism, the gastroenterologist suggests increasing fiber. Carol Fenster’s recipe book “125 Gluten-Free Vegetarian Recipes” would give me the chance to experiment with veggies and gluten-free combinations! What a blessing!!

I’d like to enter this giveaway because I need a boost to my diet and I love to experiment with cooking! I stumbled upon your “Gluten Free Carla” link when surfing through my Facebook page. This is where I get most of my sources for finding other celiacs and individuals trying to vamp up their g-free diet! Thank you for your Facebook page and opportunity to sign up for your newsletter! I’m excited about your information and recipes you post that I’ve read so far. I can’t wait to get into the kitchen to start cooking! With JOY!

  6. I would like to enter the cookbook contest. I’ve felt a million times better in the last two years being gluten free than I ever have in the 24 years before that. Meats are often a big part of gluten free recipes, since they are naturally gf, but I haven’t eaten beef or pork since the 4th grade, so I’m looking for new gf, vegetarian recipes (although I’m not 100% veg, my diet leans mostly that way).
