Ingredients

  • Pizza Dough of Your Choosing linked above
  • Pizza Sauce linked above
  • 8 black olives or as needed
  • 1 recipe Bechamel Sauce linked above
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese for the sauce
  • Cheddar cheese for orange color (or dairy-free shreds)

Instructions

  1. To Make the Pizza:
  2. Make your favorite gluten free pizza crust by choosing from one the recipes in the pizza crust recipes at the above link. Bake the dough for 5 minutes or so if you prefer a thick crust. Otherwise, just add sauce and toppings as described in the next step.
  3. Top the pizza with sauce, sprinkle on a little cheese; add other ingredients like sautéed vegetables and/or meat, and top with a little additional cheese. Bake as directed, usually 8 – 10 minutes on a pizza stone and perhaps a little longer on a baking sheet.
  4. To Make the Béchamel Sauce:
  5. Follow the instructions on the page of the above link for Béchamel Sauce; stir in a cup of white cheese at the end; stir until the cheese melts; set aside. When you’re ready to make the ghosts, thin out if needed using a bit more milk. Transfer the sauce to a squeeze bottle such as old mustard container or those used for melted chocolate.

  6. To Make the Ghosts:
  7. Using the squeeze bottle of béchamel sauce, draw an outline of a ghost on the pizza and fill in with more sauce. Repeat as many times as the sauce and pizza allow. Quickly add on the tiny pieces to make eyes and a nose.

  8. To Make the Spiders:
  9. Add half an olive to the pizza and slide 6 legs underneath (3 on each side). Repeat 3 times in various areas of the pizza. Move quickly as you don’t want the pizza to get cold.

Tips

For a quick version but not as pretty, you may cut slices of Mozzarella cheese into the shape of ghosts and add to the top of your pizza. Melt the cheese in the oven. Once it melts remove and allow to cool for a few minutes prior to serving.
