I had purchased some hemp seeds a few months ago when I was watching one of Ani Phyo’s Raw Food Kitchen videos, but since I am already adding hemp protein I feel that I do not need them in my morning protein shake. I also made the mistake by ordering hemp seeds still in their shells and they also were not raw but heated. They are so tiny, I could not possibly shell them myself. I needed a use for them and found it, a hemp milk recipe! I am sure you can make the same recipe with raw hemp seeds, too. Continue reading “Hemp Milk Recipe”
Gluten Free Potatoes and Onion Recipe
This recipe is so simple, yet so delicious. It was my mother’s recipe. Now it is one of my staple gluten free potato recipes. She’s been gone for some years, but it brings me comfort and makes me smile every time I make this dish. Kids tend to not like them very brown, but by all means brown them up as much as you desire. I usually do, unless my grandkids are over. Continue reading “Gluten Free Potatoes and Onion Recipe”
Gluten Fee Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream with Cookie Crust
Traditional strawberry shortcake recipes are made with layers of angel food cake with a layer of whipped cream or strawberries and topped with one of the same. I used a plain gluten-free cookie recipe to line a ramekin; baked it; and tossed it in the freezer for a couple of hours. Once frozen I made some homemade vanilla ice cream; added a layer of it on top of the cookie; then a layer of strawberries in syrup; then another layer of ice cream; topped it all with sweetened gluten-free whipped cream and slices of frozen strawberries; and froze. Vegan and Gluten Free Stuffed Zucchini Recipe
I have been craving an old recipe of mine that I no longer can have due to my tomato allergies, but created this one as a substitute. There a ton of variations to this recipe which is great because you’ll never tire of it. You can either keep it vegan or add meat, cheese, etc. You can use traditional shaped zucchini or round ones if you can get a hold of some. The one I used in the photo below is from my garden. Gluten Free Vegan Zucchini Mango Soup
Looking for delicious gluten free soup recipes? I harvested my first round zucchini (photo below) this week and decided to use it to test a new mango soup recipe. You are sure to see more zucchini recipes in the near future because my plants are growing like crazy! You can serve this soup warm or cold. This is recipe is great way to use up any produce you have that may soon spoil or wilt. My original intention was to only use vegetables and one fruit, but I was awfully hungry while making it and decided to toss in a potato and am glad that I did. It was very tasty and satisfying! Gluten Free Pizza Sauce Recipe
Adding this sweet pizza sauce to your favorite gluten-free pizza brings out the flavors of the toppings as well as the crust. If you don’t enjoy sweet sauces, make it savory simply by adding plenty of fresh herbs and reducing the agave. Use it on any the Gluten Free Pizza Crust Recipes.
Low Sodium Southern Red Beans and Rice Recipe
My mother made a few southern dishes that were family favorites. It’s been years since I made her red beans and rice recipe, but this time I changed things around, making it lower in sodium and by adding a little kick to heat it up. With or without heat, these beans are very flavorful. My mother used to always make them using a ham bone with lots of meat left on it. When not available she would use a ham hock, but didn’t like the additional fat, and I agree. To lessen the sodium content, I used very lean, very thin pork chops cut into bite sized pieces. When I tasted it, I could have sworn it was ham without all the salt! If you are on a low sodium diet use the chops; if not use a ham bone if you can find one. Enjoy this southern dish, as I have for many decades. Continue reading “Low Sodium Southern Red Beans and Rice Recipe”
Authentic Italian Gluten Free Spaghetti Sauce Recipe (Bolognese Sauce)
My gluten free spaghetti sauce recipe is a bit of a modern version of the authentic Italian spaghetti sauce that my Sicilian grandmother used to make. I have included both the authentic ingredients as well as a few shortcuts I take. I sometimes use dried parsley, canned mushrooms, etc. You can use all fresh ingredients or opt to take the shortcuts, but they both taste wonderful. Cheesecake Stuffed Strawberries – Gluten Free Sugar Free!
I was watching Paula Deen the other day and her son was on her show and made stuffed strawberries with cream cheese and powdered sugar. I made them, too, as a gluten free sugar-free recipe! I can’t think of anything that I would enjoy more on a hot summer day, and did! I had so much fun testing this recipe using different sweeteners. I didn’t care for them with agave but enjoyed them with powdered sugar and stevia. Surprisingly, I liked these strawberries better with stevia. I hope you enjoy these, too!
