Sugar Free Gluten Free Pancakes – Almond Flax

Gluten Free Almond Flax Pancakes

On behalf of my paleo diet friends, I created this gluten free pancakes recipe which is grain free and sugar free. Of course, this doesn’t prevent anyone else from dowsing it with maple syrup. Another alternative, which is what I did, is to dust them with organic powdered sugar (evaporated cane juice). I get mine from Trader Joe’s. These are gluten free, sugar free, grain free, dairy free, corn free, and soy free. These are ideal for those looking for gluten free diabetic recipes, as well as paleo. Enjoy! Lean Gluten Free Country Fried Steak with Gravy

Lean Chili Country Fried Steak and Gravy

My husband has been doing most of the grocery shopping lately. When I am not specific in what I would like in the meat department there is no doubt he will show up with something  I would have not chosen. He came home with cubed steak the other day, and I just couldn’t bare to just fry it plain. I don’t like cubed steak, as I’d prefer to have either my meat ground or whole – not beaten to death in order to make it tender. However, there is a correct way to tenderize tough cuts of meat like round steak. Continue reading “Lean Gluten Free Country Fried Steak with Gravy”

Gluten Free Fried Bananas

Fried Bananas (Naturally Gluten Free)

Don’t know what to do with over-ripened bananas? Make fried bananas! Fry them up in about 5 minutes and top them your favorite topping or the buttery sweet sauce straight from the pan. It’s truly an easy gluten free dessert recipe you cannot go wrong with. It’s a non-alcoholic version of bananas foster. Next time I make this recipe I’d like to try dredging the cut side of the bananas in almond flour before frying. That just sounds perfect to me. Wish I would have thought about it sooner. Enjoy! Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Sugar Free Eggnog Recipe

Image: Gluten Free Dairy Free Sugar Free Egg Nog in Glass

I had never tasted a sugar free eggnog recipe before today, but the holidays are almost upon us and who cannot resist all of that sugar, dairy, chocolate, what have you? I certainly have trouble doing so! I do not have eggnog very often, but when I do, I just cannot seem to stop myself from having a second glass. Heaven knows if we have a holiday dinner and there is left over eggnog, I’m having it for breakfast instead of my healthy protein shake. This year, I just had to get a hold of myself prior to the holidays. This is what inspired me to come up with this sugar free eggnog recipe.

You can double, triple, etc. as needed.

Gluten Free Onion Gravy Recipe

I promised you all my gluten free onion gravy recipe, and here it is. Whether you leave in the onion pieces or puree until smooth, this is an easy, delicious gravy. You can make this sauce virtually any color you chose. If you wish a brown gravy, add a tiny bit of Kitchen Bouquet; use some milk for a white sauce, or leave its natural yellow color from the butter and oil. You may also use all oil instead of half butter and oil. Though butter adds flavor. This is a great onion gravy recipe without having to use any meat drippings. I used it over my Gluten Free Toad in the Hole recipe. Continue reading “Gluten Free Onion Gravy Recipe”

Allergy Free Gluten Free Margarine Recipe

Homemade Allergen-Free Gluten Free Margarine

I was so tired of trying to find a gluten free margarine or gluten free margarine recipe that was both soy-free and corn-free that I decided to create one myself! This recipe is also dairy-free. It’s so nice to know that it is free of chemicals, as well. Though I use some palm shortening in this recipe I would imagine you can use red palm oil (red has the most health benefits, and it is more of an orange color), though it hardens more than palm shortening. And palm shortening is less expensive than red palm oil. I used organic palm shortening. If you wish a deeper yellow color we all so used to, add a pinch of turmeric. I chose palm shortening for its color, softness and neutral flavor. When my husband tasted it, I asked him, “What does this taste like?” His answer was, “Margarine.” I was a happy camper! I do taste a hint of olive oil, but that’s a good thing! Enjoy! Continue reading “Allergy Free Gluten Free Margarine Recipe”

Gluten-Free Snacks: Spiced Nuts or Agave Candied Spiced Nuts

With the holidays soon approaching you may find these gluten-free snack recipes will come in handy. It’s definitely less expensive than purchasing canned nuts. These spiced nuts make a great everyday gluten-free snack, as well. Use your favorite nuts. I would have definitely added some macadamia nuts, but I was out. You can change the spices to fit your tastes, as well. For Halloween, use allspice, pumpkin spice, and cinnamon with pumpkin seeds! Mix up your gluten-free snacks with mixed nuts. Check out the two recipe versions below and have fun! Continue reading “Gluten-Free Snacks: Spiced Nuts or Agave Candied Spiced Nuts”

Gluten Free Hummus

mmuHummus is naturally gluten free, however, adding a wrong ingredient can send someone with a high gluten-intolerance into a world spin. This gluten free hummus is sweetened with pineapple juice and vinegar (due to my citrus allergies) rather than lemon juice, but feel free to use either. Hummus does not keep well. Therefore, ensure its refrigeration as soon as possible. I made some homemade gluten-free tortilla chips which was a wonderful compliment to this gluten-free hummus, as they were nice and spicy! Enjoy! Continue reading “Gluten Free Hummus”

Tri-Tip Roast Recipe with Gluten Free Gravy

I made this tri-tip roast recipe with gluten-free gravy right before I left last week to take care of my father. Now that it’s fall, it’s time for some comfort food, and with Dad terminally ill, I surely needed the comfort. Plus, the tri-tip roast was on sale and I couldn’t pass up the bargain. I like roast because it lasts for more than one meal in our house since it’s just the two of us. And this left my hubby plenty of food in the freezer to tied him over while I was gone. He found it comforting, too, since I was leaving. Not to mention, this tri-tip roast recipe is very flavorful! Enjoy. Continue reading “Tri-Tip Roast Recipe with Gluten Free Gravy”

You can make mashed potatoes for 4 in as little as 20 minutes, if you leave on the peel, otherwise about 30 minutes. The smaller you cut the pieces of potatoes, the faster they cook.
