This is my all time favorite potato salad recipe and potato side dish. My sister started making this about 30 years ago. She hasn’t been able to find the recipe, but did recall the ingredients. Instead of using all-purpose flour, as in a traditional German hot potato salad recipe, I used potato starch. I can’t remember the last time I made this and have lost the recipe, as well. What makes this recipe stand apart from other German Hot Potato Salad recipes is that the apple cider vinegar, combined with celery seed and a little bacon grease. Our entire family loves this recipe so much, we must have had it for about 20 straight years with our Christmas ham (with very few exceptions). It’s hard to believe Christmas is just 3 months away! I had to wing it on the quantities, but it tastes just like I remember – oh so good! Of course, I was always known for increasing the bacon and almost doubling the sauce. What are holidays for, right? This time I made it as the old recipe called for, as I just had 4 slices of bacon. Gluten Free Finger Sandwiches – Cucumber Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

To have another red pepper hummus recipe idea is just grand! Allison did not include a recipe for the actual hummus, however one can easily be found on the Internet. Just make sure you use a tahini sauce that is pure sesame paste, without any gluten ingredients, if you using that in your recipe. My father is ill, and all of us daughters are taking very good care of him. I went shopping for him and came back with cauliflower, which he wasn’t too happy about. However, he said he would eat cauliflower soup. That was a perfect idea on a chilly San Francisco day. Chocolate Chili with Bacon (Gluten Free)

You heard it right, chocolate chili! I also threw in some bacon. I love to keep my guests guessing what the ingredients are in this chili. My daughter made a similar chocolate chili recipe, and she won an award for it. Unfortunately, for me, it contained tomatoes. Being allergic to tomatoes, I created my own chocolate chili recipe, gluten-free of course. You can top this chili with cheese and/or gluten free bacon bits. I over cook some bacon to garnish the top and then add additional juice from the chili on top. It gives it a nice sheen, yet leaves the crunch for added texture. Stove Top Chili Fries Recipe: Spicy or Mild

I was thinking about whipping up some of my Indian fries with turmeric, but had decided to turn this into a gluten free chili fries recipe. You may add cheese or not, however, these are very tasty on their own. The mustard is the key, here. Any of the spices, other than chili powder, such as cumin and red peppers can go to the wayside if making this for children. Last night for dinner I just wasn’t up to cooking anything, and wasn’t that hungry, but I managed to make some candied walnuts (I used agave), and threw together this blackberry avocado salad together that I absolutely loved! Gluten Free Falafel with Cucumber Sauce

Falafel, which are popular in the Middle East, is now served all over the world as a replacement for meat, normally have a cake-like texture to them, similar to doughnuts. The texture of this gluten free falafel is something you’ve probably never experienced before, but both my husband and I really enjoyed this. I normally would have cast this recipe aside because it is not the traditional texture inside, but we enjoyed it more than the usual. It has a creamy, almost bean-like texture inside and crispy on the outside. I added a few unusual ingredients, and I am really glad that I did. I hope you enjoy my new version of gluten-free falafel. In an effort to add more vegetables to my diet, I am finding more and more ways of either hiding them or adding them to standard recipes. Homemade hash browns do not take much longer to cook than the frozen kind. The only extra work is in peeling them. However, they don’t turn out as crispy as frozen do. Fresh Fruit Heals Leaky Gut

The best recipes for a leaky gut contain whole foods (unprocessed foods), but some in particular. Perhaps you’re sick of fruit and are now going for those high carb snacks. I think we all have gone through the feeling of being deprived when we first start a gluten free diet, though once you find your favorite brands of gluten free baked goods, including bread, all hell breaks loose on the scale, at least those of us who have healed already. This is why I have been concentrating on finding a more healthy gluten free snack. Though I don’t ever think I’ll give up perfecting gluten free baked recipes. Everything in moderation, right? So, while your gut is still healing, ditch those high carb baked goods and reach recipes for leaky gut such as those containing high complex carbohydrates: legumes (if tolerated), fresh vegetables and fresh fruit.
