Adding this sweet pizza sauce to your favorite gluten-free pizza brings out the flavors of the toppings as well as the crust. If you don’t enjoy sweet sauces, make it savory simply by adding plenty of fresh herbs and reducing the agave. Use it on any the Gluten Free Pizza Crust Recipes.
Fast and Easy Homemade Gluten Free Sweet and Spicy Pickle Recipe – Zero Sodium!
I have been wanting to make some homemade pickles, which is something I have never done before, when I saw a bag of mini pickles at Costco the other day. I just had to have them! I created an easy pickle recipe that you can either spice up or not with red pepper flakes to your liking, as well as adjust the sweetness. Since our grandkids were visiting this week I was in a hurry and wanted a fast recipe so I opted to make sliced pickles instead of leaving those adorable little things whole. I hope you enjoy the recipe. Continue reading “Fast and Easy Homemade Gluten Free Sweet and Spicy Pickle Recipe – Zero Sodium!”
Authentic Italian Gluten Free Spaghetti Sauce Recipe (Bolognese Sauce)
My gluten free spaghetti sauce recipe is a bit of a modern version of the authentic Italian spaghetti sauce that my Sicilian grandmother used to make. I have included both the authentic ingredients as well as a few shortcuts I take. I sometimes use dried parsley, canned mushrooms, etc. You can use all fresh ingredients or opt to take the shortcuts, but they both taste wonderful. Gluten Free Brioche
Brioche is reminiscent of the first breads ever made. When Marie-Antoinette said, “Let them eat cake!” she was referring to a bread much like brioche, in between an egg bread and cake. I watched Martha Stewart make brioche buns on her Friday, April 30, 2010 episode, and I just had to figure out a way of making a gluten-free brioche. With a few alterations I had much success! They rose very nicely. This gluten free brioche recipe is a sweet, buttery, spongy egg bread and is like nothing I have ever eaten – an experience everyone should have at least once. This recipe is much faster to make than typical brioche. You do not have to wait several times for the dough to rise, especially the one you wait for overnight. No one would ever guess this is a gluten free brioche, as it does not taste grainy. You may serve it as a dessert or with a meal just as you would serve corn bread. Brioche is very popular in New Orleans. Continue reading “Gluten Free Brioche”
Low Fat Healthy Baked French Fries
Let’s face it french fries that have been deep fried are high in calories. If you’d like a french fry lower in fat and calories just bake them. I’m all for low fat french fries! I recently purchased a Nonstick French Fry Baking Pan which allows the heat to rise form the bottom through holes in the pan, allowing browning to occur on both sides. A little olive oil spray makes them taste like regular french fries. UPDATE: I have successfully made these using a regular baking sheet. You may use russet potatoes, sweet potatoes, or golden or red potatoes. Guilt free French fries! What’s not to enjoy? Continue reading “Low Fat Healthy Baked French Fries”
Chewy Gluten Free Brownie Recipe
This is my first stab at creating a gluten free brownie recipe. It turned out very chewy, just what I had in mind. They are not cake-like at all. I used potato starch in this one. Next time I may try using almond flour just because I love the taste of it, but this time I just added some chopped nuts. You can use your favorite nuts. I not only enjoyed the brownies, but I really liked the fact that there was not a lot of mess to clean up as I went along. Continue reading “Chewy Gluten Free Brownie Recipe”
Gluten Free Cream Puffs
I am half Italian and love my cream puffs, especially filled with custard. I grew up eating them from the historic Italian bakery in San Francisco, Victoria Pastry. Now I can have gluten free cream puffs and so can you. They are so delicious! Continue reading “Gluten Free Cream Puffs”
Gluten Free Pastry Recipe: Apple or Desired Filling
I like baking with red apples as it allows me to use less sugar in a recipe. I created a gluten free pastry recipe with red apples versus green. You can use any apples you desire and adjust the sugar content accordingly. I used my gluten free old cream puff shell recipe but made the shells more shallow. You can fill these pastries with anything you desire: homemade fruit fillings, custard, Comstock pie fillings, and more. Bon Appetité! Gluten Free Maple Rice Pudding Recipe
I had quite a bit of leftover white rice and happened to see a restaurant featured on television that shared a portion of their ingredients for rice pudding except for one secret ingredient. And it is naturally gluten free. It looked as if it contained warm maple syrup; and the host of show said it tasted like french toast. I just had to try to make it. The original recipe did not use vanilla bean but I had to add some, as vanilla beans give it a wonderful flavor! I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed creating, and consuming it.
