Gluten-free Giveaway and Review: Tasty Bite Indian Food

Ah, it’s time for another gluten-free giveaway and review!  There are usually at least 2 running at the same time lately. THIS GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED.

Tasty Bite sent me a few of their gluten-free products. Tasty Bite made the 2009 list of best companies to work for in India!  Their manufacturing facility is the largest and highest quality of its kind in India and is located in one of India’s richest agricultural regions.  Their focus is on quality.  They are up on the latest manufacturing technology as you would find in high quality U.S. facilities.  They are even audited by the FDA.

Their products are pre-cooked and cased in a pouch which only takes 90 seconds to reheat in the microwave, making it very convenient.  Yet the products taste as though you just cooked them yourself, though they stay fresh for 18 months!

You can check out the list of Tasty Bite gluten-free products on their website.  there are 24 total:

  • Madras Lentils
  • Agra Peas and Greens
  • Paneer Makhani
  • Kashmir Spinach
  • Jaipur Vegetables
  • Bombay Potatoes
  • Channa Masala
  • Aloo Palak
  • Bengal Lentils
  • Kerala Vegetables
  • Massaman Vegetables
  • Mushroom Takatak
  • Peas Paneer
  • Punjab Eggplant
  • Spinach Dal
  • Vegetable Korma
  • Good Korma Simmer Sauce
  • Tikka Masala Simmer Sauce
  • Pad Thai Simmer Sauce
  • Rogan Josh Simmer Sauce
  • Satay Partay Simmer Sauce
  • Tandoori Rice
  • Basmati Rice
  • Jasmine Rice

Of course, my first concern was that of cross-contamination due to production in a facility that process glutenous products.  A representative from Tasty Bite stated,

“We follow a batch process whereby we fully sterilize and clean all production equipment and areas after each product is made. We also follow all the HACCP norms of allergen handling to avoid cross-contamination.”

If you are overly sensitive to gluten, this may be of concern to you, but if not, read on to find out more about Tasty Bite products, my review and the giveaway.

REVIEW

What I sampled:

  • Tandori Rice Tasty Bite Tandori Rice
  • Garlic Brown Rice Tasty Bite Garlic Brown Rice
  • Chunky Chickpeas
    Tasty Bite Chunky Chickpeas
  • Tandori Rice  Tasty Bite Tandori Rice
  • Zesty Lentils and Peas  Tasty Bite Zesty Lentils and Peas
  • Basmati Rice

I loved everyone of their rice products. They were cooked perfectly and had a little butter or oil on them; not sure what, but perfect!  Nothing was too spicy, overly-seasoned (or salty, as are many pre-packaged foods).  The garlic brown rice was wonderful and would compliment any dish.  The tandori rice was wonderful, too!  I ate it plain, it was that good!

Unfortunately, I was not able to sample the chickpeas or lentils and peas due to digestive issues, and I left the lentil one at my sister’s house last week.  However, my husband had the Chunky Chickpeas and absolutely loved it!  He said that he’d like me to buy it for him from now on.  He’s only said that about one other gluten-free product ever!  He said it was spicy and had a brown sauce.  Let’s face it, it only takes 90 seconds in the microwave to heat up.  I’m all for that, especially on those nights that I do not feel like cooking or I’m not at home and he has to fend for himself.  It’s something you should definitely try!

  1. entering: would like to win this product as I have not tried their products yet and this would be a good way to do so.

  2. Commented on the new soysauce! My sushi is going to be so happy to have a new friend. :)

  3. I absolutely love Tasty Bite, but only a few things are carried in my local store. Being a gluten-free college student, it’s hard to eat well due to the price of many gluten-free breads, pastas, etc. Tasty bite adds variety to my cuisine…and even though it’s a bit expensive, it’s not as expensive as a lot of other options! I would love to win these GF items!! YUMM! (=

  4. Share this page on Facebook either by clicking “share” on Facebook below; and leave me a separate comment below stating what you did.

  5. I would like to enter this giveaway.
I would like to win because my store does not carry all the 6 you have above. I make my own basmati rice, so no need there, but the other two rices sound nice. Thank you for hosting.

  6. I “liked” you on facebook – We love the Spice it Up Tasty Bite Madras Lentils – that is how we found your website. Costco used to carry them but we can’t find someplace local in Southern California that does. . .so we are looking. Also checked out your recipes – they are great – thank you!

  7. I’d like to win this giveaway because I love the Tasty Bite products that I have tried but these are all new to me.

  8. I love rice & chickpeas. I would really be happy with this cuz have very low income and that makes it so hard to be GF.

  9. I would love to win this because they are easy to prepare, something that is highly valued as a student in graduate school! Plus I love rice and chickpeas! :)

  10. Gluten free products are few and far between in my area. I would love to try this one as I haven’t seen anything like this around here.

  11. I would love to win! I am always looking for good, vegetarian easy to prepare meals, and this sounds like it would fit the bill. Yum!

  12. I would love to win this package because I am in bit of a rice rut. I am tired of eating plain brown rice so I need to add a little spice in my life.

  13. I would love to enter this giveaway. I love, love rice! I could eat it all day and as I look at this new product my mouth is watering. Definitely count me in for this giveaway. :)
