Since many of my readers, and myself, have been on the search for good gluten free tortillas, I approached Rudi’s Gluten Free Bakery for some samples for a review and giveaway. As many of you know I recently created a wonderful soft gluten free tortilla recipe, but to get it soft you must use Expandex, and I’d really prefer not to use any modified ingredients. With that in mind, Rudi’s was one of my first choices because they use natural ingredients.
Let me first introduce you to Rudi’s gluten free tortillas:
Plain Tortillas
Ingredients: Whole Grain Flours (Sorghum, Brown Rice, Corn, Amaranth, Quinoa, Millet, Teff), Corn Starch, Tapioca Flour, Rice Flour, Water, Canola Oil*, Xanthan Gum, Evaporated Cane Juice, Cultured Dextrose and Maltodextrin, Salt, Guar Gum, Baking Powder (Monocalcium Phosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Corn Starch), Malic Acid, Active Dry Yeast, Apple Cider Vinegar.

Spinach Tortillas
Ingredients: Whole Grain Flours (Sorghum, Brown Rice, Corn, Amaranth, Quinoa, Millet, Teff), Corn Starch, Tapioca Flour, Rice Flour, Water, Canola Oil*, Xanthan Gum, Spinach Powder, Evaporated Cane Juice, Cultured Dextrose and Maltodextrin, Salt, Baking Powder (Monocalcium Phosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Corn Starch), Guar Gum, Dried Cilantro Leaves, Malic Acid, Garlic Powder, Apple Cider Vinegar, Active Dry Yeast
Fiesta Tortillas
Ingredients: Whole Grain Flours (Sorghum, Brown Rice, Corn, Amaranth, Quinoa, Millet, Teff), Corn Starch, Tapioca Flour, Rice Flour, Water, Canola Oil*, Xantham Gum, Evaporated Cane Juice, Cultured Dextrose and Maltodextrin, Salt, Baking Powder (Monocalcium Phosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Corn Starch), Guar Gum, Malic Acid, Red Bell Pepper Powder, Jalapeno Powder, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Carrot Granules, Parsley Flakes, Apple Cider Vinegar, Active Dry Yeast
My Review
On first inspection, they appeared to be similar to rice tortillas in texture, but much thinner and more pliable. Once heated up in the microwave they softened up quite a bit. You can roll them, re-roll them, and never crack or break.
You can use them stuffed with your favorite filling and heated in the microwave; for enchiladas (love it!) and burritos (heat the tortillas in a skillet); cold wraps (provides a great chewy texture at room temperature, though you can heat them); or just plain right out of the bag!
Flavors: The Plain, is just that. They do not take any flavor away from the ingredients that you use to stuff them. The Spinach does not give off a spinach flavor, yet supplies the health benefits of the spinach. The Fiesta has a bit of jalapeno powder, therefore, are just a slight spicy. I love a nice little kick! It’s not very spicy, just a tiny bit, just enough, though. You may not notice it when the tortilla is stuffed. I really liked them the best. Of course, each flavor will serve their purpose. What will you use them for?

I’m always looking for good solutions to having a sandwich for lunch. Rudi’s tortillas (especially the fiesta flavor!) look like a good way to have what I want without a dry fake bread substitute.

This is a great contest idea! I’ve tried Rudy’s breads but didn’t know they had gluten free tortillas! WooHoo! Would love to win and try them all.
I am just starting the adventure of a gluten/wheat free diet. I love soft tortillas for tacos and wraps. This would be a healthy alternative, not just for me, but also my family of 6.

Since a stem cell transplant 5 years ago I have developed some allergies and intolerance’s…..gluten being one of them. I am a new mom to a beautiful 2 month old baby girl- Brooke. Brooke was having a really hard time since she was 5 weeks old. Always crying. I brought her to the lactation consultant and they recommended me to be gluten free, dairy free, soy free, corn free and nut free. The wraps unused to eat had corn flower. I asked about corn starch and bc it’s such a small amount they said it was fine-Just nothing made primarily of corn. Finding foods has been a challenge! Never mind foods that taste good and don’t crack and break all apart! I am entering for a chance to taste these wraps and hopefully expand my food choices to keep my baby girl happy. She’s been doing much better since I restricted my diet!

I would like to be entered in the give away. My 7yr old daughter has been gluten free for a little over 2yrs now. After major health issues we found out she is allergic to gluten. Our fav food is tacos but soft corn tortillas just crumble & break when she tries to roll them up. This leaves her very upset!
I just tried the plain tortillas. Yummy! I was so exited about the new gluten free tortillas that I ordered them to try! My four children all like them also!

Please enter me. I’m gluten intolerant and am always looking for good tortillas. The closest I’ve come is food for life brown rice. They’re not bad, but I have to steam them to make them pliable enough to wrap into burritos. These sound great, and I’d love to try them.

Please enter me in the contest! I have been searching for the perfect tortilla since I learned I have Celiac Disease almost 6 years ago. As you mentioned, the rice tortillas crack when heated and I just long for a burrito that won’t fall apart! I have a 1 year old daughter who we are giving a strict GF diet as well and finding fun foods for her has been a challenge. I’m sure she would love quesadillas! I will also take the other steps listed for additional entries.

I would love to win these tortillas because my daughter has suffered with Celiac since she was 8 years old (she is now 18). We do pretty well with foods, including creating our own recipes, but she has been waiting as patiently as possible to try these tortillas! I had actually won some for her a few weeks ago, but the lady doing the contest gave mine away to someone else (boo for her), so we were very disappointed to say the least. Since these aren’t available in our stores yet, I would love to surprise her with this awesome pack of goodies!

I’ve been gluten free for 6 months now due to being diagnosed with Stage IV endometriosis early last year. After 3 major surgeries, I’ve had to completely change my diet to a clean, soy-free, wheat-free, gluten-free, etc. diet. So I’m always on the hunt for new products that I can try to help keep my diet interesting. I would love to try these tortillas!
Sure would like to win those products. Really like the Rudi’s products. Thankful for Rudi’s gluten free product so I don’t have to suffer at night like I did when I use to eat wheat products.

I have been gluten free for almost three months now and it’s going well but I’m missing out on a lot of good food because gluten free stuff is so expensive. I am glad you reviewed these. Its nice to have the variety and to have choices depending on what you are using them to make. I can’t wait to try them and would like to be entered in the contest. Tortillas can be used for so many different dishes, with shrimp, chicken, beef and many fresh vegetables. Just thinking of all the ideas is making me hungry and wanting them.
