Is Nestle Gluten Free?

Image: Nestle's Gluten Free Products

I contacted Nestle a couple of weeks ago to find out which of the candies are gluten free. They mailed me an entire list of Nestle’s gluten free products, but it was not updated since December 22, 2011. Today, October 30, 2012, I called them regarding a product that was not listed in their list below (Natural Dark Chocolate Morsels – chips). I was told the list was sent out in error, as they no longer claim anything to be gluten free, as they do not test for gluten. The products listed below are considered to be made without gluten ingredients and are not made on equipment that processes gluten (wheat, rye, barley or oats). It was nice of them to include oats, as not all manufacturers do. However, because they do not test for gluten, they will not make any gluten free claims. Continue reading “Is Nestle Gluten Free?”

Last weekend a premiere review copy arrived of Simply Gluten Free Magazine, the newest of gluten free magazines! I was anticipating its arrival, as I only subscribe to one other gluten free magazine, and it really hasn’t been meeting my needs lately. I mainly subscribe for the recipes, and everything else is just a bonus. Since the editor of Simply Gluten Free, Carol Kicinski, had announced that it she was going to publish a gluten free magazine that she would want to read, I knew it was going to be great! She is very artistic, a photographer, a professional recipe developer, TV show host, author, has such great taste, and is fun. If anyone could publish a successful, upper-end gluten free magazine, it was going to be Carol! THIS GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED. Continue reading “Simply Gluten Free Magazine Review and Giveaway”

Gluten Free Scalloped Potatoes Microwaved

Image: Gluten Free Scalloped Potatoes

With the holidays approaching, I thought I would make a few easier, or at least faster, recipes for that busy time of year. No one enjoys scalloped potatoes more than we do (me and the hubby), but we don’t eat them often, not only because they’re loaded with calories and fat, but because they just take so long to bake. I was having a craving for them recently, and with not much time left to make them, I had to experiment on whether or not microwaving them would work. Sure enough, it did! They turned out perfectly! So, when you’re having a craving for scalloped potatoes, consider this recipe. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as we did. Continue reading “Gluten Free Scalloped Potatoes Microwaved”

Gluten Free Coffee Cake in a Mug (Microwave)

One of my Twitter followers recently asked me for a gluten-free coffee mug cake recipe. I had never heard of a such a thing! So, curiosity got the best of best of me, and I had to get right on it. After a little research, I discovered that most recipes are actually a coffee cake though you can make other cake recipes in a mug. I thought how great for those that are the only ones in their household that are gluten free to have their very own personal gluten free coffee cake, in minutes! Stuffed Raw Zucchini Appetizers

Image: Stuffed Zucchini Appetizers

In preparation for the upcoming holidays, I have begun my recipe development of new gluten free appetizers. During the holidays I tend to make rich, fattier appetizers, but I thought I’d go a bit healthier for a change. One can only tolerate plain vegetable platters for so long. This is my fancier version of a vegetable platter, with a bit of an Italian flair. It calls for zucchini slices, ricotta cheese, and basil. It makes a wonderful compliment when you’re serving other Italian dishes. Though it makes a beautiful presentation either way. Continue reading “Stuffed Raw Zucchini Appetizers”
