Hail Merry Eat Raw Gift Set

I was asked to review Hail Merry’s gluten-free, vegan, raw macaroons and granola.  VegNews Magazine awarded their products the Best New Vegan Product at the Natural Products Expo West earlier this month. Ahhh! Hail Merry’s macaroons are heavenly! I wasn’t quite sure at the time if I had an allergy to coconut or not, but wanted to sample one rather than rely on my husband’s sweet tooth. I ate 3 chocolate macaroons without stopping! They almost melt in your mouth! And they are such a healthy snack! The next day I sampled the vanilla ones, and they are also melt in your mouth good! Of course, I am a chocoholic and like the chocolate ones the best! I had to save some for the hubby and did not eat any more, but really wanted to. I had no allergic reaction at all, but did to some coconut oil the following week. I really think it depends upon how coconut is processed. Gluten-free Giveaway and Review: Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil

Tropical Traditions Virgin Gold Label Coconut Oil

In addition to my gluten sensitivity, I have had allergic reactions to many coconut products.  Therefore, I was hesitant on testing this product, but lo and behold I had no reaction at all to this product!  The probable reason?  I read that many people who have food allergies may not have an allergic reaction to a food when consuming their organic version.  Avoiding chemicals, artificial ingredients, etc. is supposed to help those with food allergies.  Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is not refined.  The coconut is shredded (wet milled); cold pressed using the water from the inside of the coconut to make coconut milk; allowing it to sit for about a day to allow the oil to naturally separate from the milk; and then naturally separating the oil from the milk.  Their process is highly commended and makes recipes tastes wonderful! Katz Gluten-free Giveaway and Review

Katz Gluten Free Hamburger Bun

Katz Gluten Free, known for their scrumptious certified gluten-free breads and baked goods, came out with 2 new yummy treats in December!  They added a vanilla flavor to their unique Rugelach.  They also introduced Frosted Chocolate Cupcakes.  They were generous to sponsor a gluten-free giveaway in exchange for my review of their products.  My Katz Gluten Free products arrived with a sticker stating to freeze upon receipt.  That is exactly what I did!  That was at about 3pm.

Gluten-free Hamburger Buns

At about 7:30 I realized I hadn’t eaten dinner yet and was frantically looking for something fast to make.  I thought, “Ground beef defrosts fasts, and oh yah! – I have gluten-free hamburger buns in the freezer!  I took a bun out to defrost on the counter while I whipped up my favorite gluten-free burger recipe.  I did not even have enough time and energy to make the balsamic reduction.  I just whisked the balsamic, chipotle sauce and brown sugar together and combined with the red onion.  No need for ground oats this time, as I had a nice filling hamburger bun awaiting!  Perfect timing – it was defrosted by the time my hamburger was done!

Gluten-free Giveaway and Review: Beanitos Chips!

Beanitos is sponsoring this wonderful gluten-free giveaway!  Beanitos gluten-free chips are wonderful, too! If you have digestive issues there is no concern because Beanitos figured out a way of avoiding the normal gas one may get from consuming the beans in their chips. They do, however, warn us not to overeat them, as they do contain quite a bit of fiber, which can cause GI trouble.

They come in four flavors: Cheddar, Chipotle Barbecue, Pinto Bean and Flax, and Black Bean. They are all gluten-free, corn-free, high fiber, and contain 2 1/2 times the protein compared to corn or potato chips. Mediterranean Snack Food Company Baked Lentil Chips

What can I say in a review about Mediterranean Snack Food Company’s Baked Lentil Chips? – not much, accept they are gluten-free and I am addicted to the Sea Salt Cracked Pepper! Perhaps it’s the spiciness of this chip which causes me to not stop eating them. Not all flavors are spicy, though.  Thank goodness they only sent me one bag of the Cracked Pepper! The scale would tell on me! However, they are baked, not fried, with only 110 calories for 22 chips and the chips are pretty thick, like corn chips! So, enjoy! It has the texture of any great homemade gluten-free white bread, which takes so much time to make!
