Gluten Free Cream of Mushroom Soup

While there are brands of gluten free cream of mushroom soup, making a batch of homemade soup is always preferred. It contains more flavor and is healthier as you can control the amount of cream, sodium, etc. This soup may be made using chicken broth or mushroom broth made by soaking dried mushrooms in water (see Tips section). If you are seeking brands of canned mushroom soup, see the link below for my gluten free products list.

Hearty Gluten Free Turkey Soup

On a cold winter’s day a good hearty, gluten free turkey soup is an American tradition. If you’re watching your weight, choose the white turkey meat, if there’s any left. Otherwise, the dark meat has more flavor, and is what is really needed in a soup. Without enough flavorful meat, salt is the main ingredient that brings the flavor to to any soup recipe. So, after Thanksgiving, kick back and wrap yourself in a nice warm blanket (weather permitting), and enjoy! Continue reading “Hearty Gluten Free Turkey Soup”

Creamy Split Pea Soup with Fresh Sugar Snap Peas

Gluten Free Split Pea and Sugar Snap Pea Soup

My father is visiting again, and he just loves his soups! Split pea soup is one of his faves, but  knowing he is ill I just had to add some fresh nutritional content. So, I not only made a split pea soup, but with added fresh sugar snap peas. Being Italian he loves the flavor of basil, so I added a bit of that as well. Along with added onion, garlic and broth he had a huge bowl filled with tons of broken up Schar’s gluten free bread sticks! Fresh, vegan, vegetarian and delicious. Enjoy! Gluten Free Cream of Chicken Soup Recipe

This gluten free cream of chicken soup recipe is made with fresh ingredients. Add to other soups for an easily digestible protein. Using chicken breasts is not recommended, as it is too dry and creates a gritty texture. Brown chicken parts add more flavor. Ensure that the chicken broth you use is gluten free, or use the broth/water used to boil the chicken, though it will not have as much flavor as pre-made chicken broth. Enjoy this gluten free cream of chicken soup recipe. My father most certainly did!

Gluten Free Low Fat Cream of Broccoli Soup

Cream of Broccoli Soup - Gluten Free

I usually make this low fat cream of broccoli soup by only using chicken broth, and sometimes even make it lower in fat by substituting some of the broth with water. However, this time I added some milk and a splash of whipping cream to make this higher in calorie for my father who is on a high caloric diet. I have added both low fat and high calorie variations in the recipe below. Lucky for me it’s easily made gluten free. I hope you enjoy this low fat cream of broccoli soup recipe, or the rich version. They both turn out creamy. I’ve enjoyed both! Continue reading “Gluten Free Low Fat Cream of Broccoli Soup”

Gluten Free Cheese Soup With Wine

Gluten Free Cheese Soup with Wine

Cheese soup is usually thickened with cornstarch or regular flour, however, this gluten-free cheese soup is thickened with potato starch. Feel free to use cornstarch as a substitute, though. So many of my readers are soy- and corn-free. However, this does contain dairy. You are welcome to substitute the cream with a dairy-free milk and the cheese with a vegan substitute. Since you thicken it with starch it should work just fine. You may need a little extra potato starch, though. Enjoy this gluten free cheese soup recipe and make it your own! My father is ill, and all of us daughters are taking very good care of him. I went shopping for him and came back with cauliflower, which he wasn’t too happy about. However, he said he would eat cauliflower soup. That was a perfect idea on a chilly San Francisco day. I thought I’d share my recipe for gluten free cauliflower soup with you which I made with very little ingredients on hand. It turned out rich and creamy without any milk of any kind; the best creamy, dairy free cauliflower soup I’ve ever had! I had 2 bowls myself. Yum!
