As part two of my New Gluten Free Products 2013 Series, I present several new products that I ran across while at the Natural Products Expo West trade show last week/weekend. Most are brand new; some already on shelves; and perhaps one or two that are not new, but definitely worth mentioning. Stay tuned for more new gluten free products in the coming days.
Think Thin – Think Thin’s newest product line is their Devine coconut bars – a good source of fiber and protein. Coconut is a very healthy fat! They are available in Dark Chocolate Coconut, Mint Chocolate Coconut, and German Chocolate Coconut. I tasted their Dark Chocolate Coconut bar. It was chewy and coated with a luscious dark chocolate – like a Mounds, but natural and healthier for you! Manufactured in a facility that also processes Tree Nuts, Peanuts and Eggs.
OSEM the makers of Nestle – (pretzels and snacks) They were making wonderful snacks for other companies, and now are making them under their own label. Watch for them in stores soon. Their pretzels taste just like gluten pretzels!
Hi I’m Skinny – (gluten free snacks) With up to 40% less fat than regular potato chips, 19 grams of whole grains per serving, and as they say, “no nasties” – non-GMO, no preservatives or chemicals. New flavors include Veggie Tortilla and Sweet Potato.
Planet Rice – (sprouted brown rice) If you’re a brown rice consumer you’re already familiar with the toughness that the fiber creates surrounding each grain. Well, Planet Rice is so different if you have your eyes closed you may think you’re eating white rice. The benefits of sprouted grains are becoming more well known than ever before. Try either their Sprouted Brown Rice or Lightly Milled Brown Rice. I only tasted their brown rice and it was incredible! I notice that Walmart.com carries it, but that it less expensive at planetricefoods.com.
Blossom Fine Foods – (gourmet gluten free desserts) Now available at Whole Foods Market are amazing gourmet baked goods such as Chocolate Tortes in various sizes, Berry Streusel Cheesecake (as well as seasonal flavors), Almond Berry Streusel Muffins, Carrot Cake, Almond Mocha Meringue Cake, Fudge Brownies, and Marble Brownies. A must check-it-out the next time you’r eat Whole Foods!
MI-DEL – (ready made gluten free pie crusts) Mi-Del(icious) makes gluten free pie crusts in several cookie flavors: ginger snap, chocolate snap and graham style. They are provided in the normal aluminum pie tins you find glutenous ready made pie crusts, and are all natural. The pie crusts will not be available for a few months. Meanwhile, check out all of their gluten free cookies.
Natural Cheddar & Sour Cream Veggie Puffs, Natural Tomato Herb Veggie Puffs, Natural Salt & Pepper Veggie Puffs, Natural Tomato Basil Veggie Crisps, Jalapeno Ranch Veggie Crisps, All Natural Whole Grain Tortilla Strips and All Natural Kettle-Style Popcorn.
Missy J’s (truffley treats) Though these vegan, dairy-free and gluten free treats are not new, they may be new to you. With no refined sugar or caffeine, these treats are ummmm, de-licious! They use organic ingredients when possible and are non-GMO. Made with carob you may mistaken for chocolate they are available in flavors such as coconut, almond sea salt, mint lime, sea salt or hazelnut, vanilla chai, and creamy textures. They are in the process of having their products gluten free certified.
Royal Mints (allergen-free candy) Remember those dinner mints we all used to add to candy dishes in the 80s when we had dinner parties? Okay, so some of you are too young for that! Well, Royal Mints has the same great tasting dinner mints available, and they are made in a gluten and allergen-free facility. In addition, they are certified organic and Kosher.
Bhuja (gluten free snacks) Indian farmers used to make this type of snack by roasting their grains and cereals, then coating them with a variety of spices. Bhuja does much the same thing, and they are still 100% natural, gluten-free, contain no trans fats and are made with sunflower oil. Available in Original, Cracker Mix, Fruit Mix, Nut Mix, Spicy Peas (loved them!), Seasoned Cashews, Seasoned Peanuts, and Seasoned Almonds. They are made in a gluten-free facility.
