Gluten Free Churros

These gluten free churros are perfection! They have a crisp outer crust with a creamy center. You couldn’t ask for more. A dairy-free option is provided.

This gluten free churros recipe was adapted from the gluten Churros Recipe on All Recipes. Though their recipe did not call for egg, churros are usually made from a choux, French for a dough made with egg such as cream puff pastries. It is the ideal dough to use, as it creates that well known, creamy, marshmallow-like texture in the center. I have only tasted churros once and did not like them at all. Once I did some research and found out about the marshmallow center and the choux, I knew I’d love them. These babies are better than donuts! Enjoy this Spanish favorite! Gluten Free Jelly Donuts or Custard

Image: Gluten Free Jelly Donuts

This recipe was adapted from Martha Stewart’s Hanukkah Sufganiyot Jelly Doughnuts. My intention was to develop a recipe for gluten free jelly donuts prior to Hanukkah, but unfortunately, work and caring for my elderly father caused a delayed. Sufganiyot, otherwise known as round jelly donuts are an Israeli delicacy associated with the miracle of the oil that burns in the Holy Temple in Jerusalem. Deep-fried foods are eaten up to and through Hanukkah. Continue reading “Gluten Free Jelly Donuts or Custard”

Gluten Free Cheese Sticks or Appetizer

Image: Gluten Free Fried Gouda

This recipe is very versatile. You may use your favorite cheese and your favorite sauce, jam or jelly to serve it with.. Serving them plain is also an option. Gluten free cheese sticks are no different than any other recipe other than the bread crumbs you use. I have supplied a link to my season bread crumbs recipe, however, they may be made plain, as well. The presentation you create all depends upon the use. If serving on a table with other appetizers you may desire to add a bowl of warm or room temperature jelly, jam, or homemade berry sauce. During the holidays a cranberry sauce is perfect. A red sauce is ideal, as it is a perfect compliment to fried cheese, rather than blueberry, blackberry, etc. In addition, you may cut the cheese in any shape you desire. I hope you find this appetizer useful this holiday season. Continue reading “Gluten Free Cheese Sticks or Appetizer”

Gluten Free Malaysian Chicken Satay (Fish-Free, Dairy-Free, Refined Sugar-Free Options)

Image: Gluten Free Chicken Satay

What can you place on a stick to eat besides shish kebobs and corn dogs? Chicken satay! Satay originated in Indonesia, but there are also Asian versions. Satay is different than shish kabobs, mainly in the sauce. Instead of barbecue sauce and such, Thai satay recipes call for coconut milk and curry. Indonesia satay, also known as sate ayam, calls for ketchup or tomato sauce and sugar. Malaysian satay calls for such ingredients as belacan (shrimp paste), galangal (a relative of ginger), and lemon grass, which are not available to everyone. This is my own unique gluten free, soy free, Malaysian version of satay using more commonly known ingredients. You may use chicken or a tender cut of beef or pork. Pork tenderloin is wonderful! However, today I am using chicken breast meat. I’m not a big peanut butter fan, but the peanut butter sauce is out of this world! Grain Free Gluten Free Applesauce Cake

Gluten-Free Grain-Free Applesauce Cake

Baking gluten free isn’t always easy, but if you’re also on a grain free diet, choices are more limited. This gluten free applesauce cake recipe is moist, can be made with or without starch (see tips for all almond meal without starch), and does not call for any gums, butter or oil. It is a one-layer cake, about 1″ high and about the weight of banana bread, though tossing in an additional egg will make it lighter. Some cakes may not necessarily need a springform pan, but because of this cake’s weight, I highly suggest using one, as to not break it when removing it from the pan. It was so delicious and fast to make. This gluten free applesauce cake would make a nutritious snack without any topping. Enjoy! Continue reading “Grain Free Gluten Free Applesauce Cake”
