Simple Kneads Gluten Free Sourdough Bread Review and Giveaway (Allergen and Gum-Free – No-Starch-Added)

Simple Kneads bakes up gluten free sourdough-based sandwich bread the day they are shipped to your door. It’s completely void of the top eight allergens, including gluten. They do not contain any white-refined starch such as tapioca, corn, or potato. However, they are full of wonderful ancient and whole grains. Their breads don’t even contain gum such as xanthan and guar. Instead, they use psyllium husk powder to provide structure and hold the ingredients together, providing tons of moisture, which allows a longer shelf life. Speaking of shelf life, they use natural preservatives such as raisin juice concentrate. Check out my video, review, and a wonderful giveaway all sponsored by Simple Kneads. This giveaway has ended.

Is Sourdough Bread Healthier For Me?

Wild yeast, the yeast that is in a sourdough starter mixture is different than commercial yeast. I found this quote from a member of Fresh Loaf website who stated,

“Sourdough benefits include a longer shelf life, better flavor, and healthier bread. The longer fermentation time of sourdough breaks down proteins into amino acids for a more readily digestible bread. Sourdough bread is essentially a fermented food and like other fermented foods it is good for your health. Sourdough bread can aid in ensuring that your blood glucose level remains in line, helping to guard against various diseases such as diabetes. This is all in contrast to the use of commercial yeast employed for quick production.

“The glycemic impact of sourdough bread is low as compared to commercial yeast. The inclusion of lactic acids (and acetic acids) makes for a much healthier and more readily digestible product. Found in grains, naturally occurring phytic acid, which is not good for digestion by a single stomach such as we humans have, is reduced or eliminated in sourdough but remains in commercial yeast bread.”

Are there allergens in the bread?

The breads are free of all top 8 allergens. However, if you are intolerant to corn, note that their organic cultured dextrose is derived from corn.

Review: The above are the words from Simple Kneads. My husband and I both agree. This is great-tasting bread! It reminds us of rye bread more than pumpernickel as it is not sweet. It is our favorite out of their three flavors and we will definitely be wanting more!

Review: While I thought this bread was too sour for my tastes, my husband thought it had no flavor, but enjoyed it warmed with peanut butter and jam. It just goes to show you that everyone’s tastes vary. If you try it, let us know what you think!

  1. GF sourdough?! I would love to try some. The only GF bread I’ve enjoyed eating are my homemade biscuits. I don’t miss bread for sandwiches much but I miss eating sourdough. Would love to try it!

  2. I love the sound of this bread! The ingredients, the care and attention to detail make it a safe choice for those of us who care what we put into our bodies. Thank you! xxoo

  3. Love this bread. I was introduced to it by my ND & his wife, who happen to be related to the company founders. It works great to have it shipped cross-country to me & I keep it in the freezer. Just take out & toast whatever I need, as I need it. So thankful to have this option since I have to be gluten-free!

  4. These loaves of bread look like what I have been seeking for 4 years. Love that they are made of whole grains. I have tried many recipes but have not achieved making a loaf that was both tasty and appropriate for sandwiches. I have sampled every brand sold in my local markets and have not found bread that can be used to make a tasty sandwich.

  5. I’d love to be able to try these. I have a hard time finding a GF bread I like and these look amazing!!

  6. Sounds Delicious, Looks Yummy and I love that Simple Kneads Bread is Healthy! Would value the tasty opportunity to share with my family who is GF! Sunny Blessings

  7. First my husband got diagnosed and must eat a GF diet. Shortly there after as we learned more, my teenage son also got disgnosed must east a GF diet. He survives on sandwiches and often brings his own bread to lunch at college. Bread that is really sandwich friendly instead of the hard brittle small squares is what he needs.

  8. I’d love to have the opportunity to try these breads. I have not been very successful making my own sourdough.

  9. I would love to win to try these out. My daughter and I both have celiac disease, and we are always looking for new bread options.

  10. It is hard to find a gluten free bread that does not taste well, requiring one to be creative in how to make it taste better. Due to Lyme disease, I have to be very careful in the foods I select, and in doing so, it limits my options when I am looking for something of quality and taste.
I am hopeful, from the descriptions provided, that these might be the bread choice for me. Thank you for this opportunity.
