Mild Gluten Free Sweet Chili Sauce Recipe

Homemade Gluten Free Sweet Chili Sauce

Sweet chili sauce is a Thai favorite. You can purchase this sauce in bottles. One brand that is gluten free is Thai Kitchen Sweet Chili Sauce. If you’re allergic to tapioca, choose another gluten free brand or make this recipe. It’s easy to make it at home, though; and can be stored for a very long time. (Though it begins to loose its heat after a month or so.) While ginger is not a common ingredient in sweet chili sauce, I provide it as an option in my recipe. Lately, I use fresh ginger in almost all of my Asian dishes. Use this sauce in dips, dipping sauces, and my favorite, Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps/Cups. I think I’ll start using this as my go-to dip for my Gluten Free Potsticker Recipe. Since it contains no oil, it is low in fat and calories (not carbs). For added calories, use a little salad oil or my new Gluten Free Chili Oil Recipe. En Papillote: Cooking in Parchment Paper Without Oil

Fish and Vegetables Cooked Using the Papillote Method

The summer season is almost over. Now it’s time to lose a few pounds before the holidays hit us hard (at least for me). En papillote is a method of cooking that omits oil and other fats such as butter. Instead, you steam-bake the items, seasonings, and if desired, a small amount of broth or wine, in parchment paper. (Aluminum foil is avoided as it can leach into your food.) The natural juices of poultry, fish, vegetables and fruit entwine and develop amazing flavor without oil or fat. You can steam-bake vegetables by themselves, too. Be sure to read the “Tips” section below to find out how to make my favorite en papillote chicken recipe.

En papillote cooking is so easy, you have to try it once and you’ll be hooked! It can turn pungent fish such as mackerel into a delightful and healthful dish. You can even make low-carb dishes by substituting starch (rice, potatoes, pasta and bread) for additional veggies.

Cheesecake Stuffed Strawberries – Gluten Free Sugar Free!

Image: Cream Cheese Stuffed Strawberries

I was watching Paula Deen the other day and her son was on her show and made stuffed strawberries with cream cheese and powdered sugar. I made them, too, as a gluten free sugar-free recipe! I can’t think of anything that I would enjoy more on a hot summer day, and did! I had so much fun testing this recipe using different sweeteners. I didn’t care for them with agave but enjoyed them with powdered sugar and stevia. Surprisingly, I liked these strawberries better with stevia. I hope you enjoy these, too!
