I absolutely love the Raw Revolution Spirulina and Cashew 100 Calorie Bar! This gluten free protein bar recipe is a healthy and tasty choice, with or without the spirulina powder. Use your favorite nuts, but cashews are my fave! Raw Revolution Spirulina and Cashew Bars are made with cashews and a bit of almonds. As an option, you can throw in some chunkier pieces of nuts at the end. Enjoy this healthy gluten free protein bar recipe. I sure have! Gluten Free Fluffy White Frosting
Because so many of the cake recipes that call for frosting on this site call for cream cheese, I thought a nice fluffy white icing recipe was in order for those who are not only gluten free, but dairy free. This fluffy white frosting recipe is great because of the color. It is actually white (even with the use of regular vanilla), instead of off-white from so much butter/margarine. If you wish the same white color, but wish to use additional vanilla for flavor, it is suggested to use clear vanilla. There are a few brands that advertise they are gluten free. This fluffy white frosting makes a great wedding cake frosting, too! Enjoy! Continue reading “Gluten Free Fluffy White Frosting”
Homemade Gluten Free Rice Milk Recipe
I thought some of my readers would find a gluten free rice milk recipe useful. It may be sweetened with your choice of sweetener or left unsweetened. Make it sugar-free by using stevia. I used xylitol in mine. You can use pure maple syrup, molasses, or during the blending process use a few dates. (However, using dates will darken the color.) Dairy Free Corn Free Gluten Free Caramel Sauce
To make this gluten free caramel sauce, it took me 4 tries. I created 2 different recipes with 2 different cooking methods, and finally, the last one was a charm! Two I had to toss, but the one that was too thick I ended up using anyway. It wasn’t that bad but on its way to candy! If you have allergies or other intolerances, this recipe should fit the bill! This gluten free caramel sauce will work well on ice cream or for cakes and pies. Enjoy! Continue reading “Dairy Free Corn Free Gluten Free Caramel Sauce”
Gluten Free Homemade Tortilla Chips
There’s nothing quite like warm homemade gluten-free tortilla chips! Fresh out of the oven, they are fragrant and more flavorful. Though these chips have plenty of flavor and heat (kick), as they are basted with olive oil and chipotle sauce. If you use plain hot sauce you may wish to add a a little sweetener (honey, agave, stevia, etc.) to the marinade. They were a hit this afternoon in my house, along side a homemade hummus dip! Gluten Free Pumpkin Bread
This is my first attempt at creating a gluten free pumpkin bread. I used my gluten-free flour blend that I have used successfully on 3 other cakes now, however, the top center never would cook thoroughly, but was just as yummy. I was really afraid the rest would dry out if I cooked it much longer, but you’re welcome to give it a try. I couldn’t wait until it cooled completely before I cut into it, which is no-no, but well worth it. This gluten free pumpkin bread is just as moist as my gluten free banana bread, and the best pumpkin bread recipe I’ve ever had gluten free, or not! Enjoy and let me know how yours turns out. I bet these would make perfect muffins. Continue reading “Gluten Free Pumpkin Bread”
Tri-Tip Roast Recipe with Gluten Free Gravy
I made this tri-tip roast recipe with gluten-free gravy right before I left last week to take care of my father. Now that it’s fall, it’s time for some comfort food, and with Dad terminally ill, I surely needed the comfort. Plus, the tri-tip roast was on sale and I couldn’t pass up the bargain. I like roast because it lasts for more than one meal in our house since it’s just the two of us. And this left my hubby plenty of food in the freezer to tied him over while I was gone. He found it comforting, too, since I was leaving. Not to mention, this tri-tip roast recipe is very flavorful! Enjoy. Continue reading “Tri-Tip Roast Recipe with Gluten Free Gravy”
Creme Brulee Steel Cut Oats Recipe
A couple of months ago I was reading about Bob’s Red Mill’s steel cut oats recipe contest. I wanted to enter, but never found the time to do so. So, this is the recipe that I would have created for that contest. I had to share it with you, as it makes a healthier creme brulee or a scrumptious breakfast for special occasions such as a brunch! Walnuts or pecans, added along with banana slices make wonderful toppings, too. Add the brown sugar, torch and voila – you have yourself heaven! My husband said he could eat this for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I told him “not!” Continue reading “Creme Brulee Steel Cut Oats Recipe”
Rice with Basil and Candied Ginger Recipe
I searched for a candied ginger recipe online, but found mostly recipes on how to make candied ginger. So, I created my own! We really enjoyed this. I served it with gluten free chicken sausages made by Full Circle. They contain no MSG or nitrates which is very hard to find in a sausage. They have many other advantages, as well. I’ll see if I can get them to sponsor a giveaway. Meanwhile this rice and candied ginger recipe was wonderful. It’s not hot on the tongue, just a kick in the back of your throat. Enjoy if you like spicy food! Continue reading “Rice with Basil and Candied Ginger Recipe”
Gluten Free Pop Tarts – Style Pastries
Last month one of my Facebook friends asked me for a gluten free pop tarts recipe. I created this one for her. I filled one with chocolate ganache that I already had on hand, and the chocolate held up very well, even when fresh out of the oven. It did not ooze out of the pastry once cut. The others I filled with orange marmalade (the best!). Another I made sweet and savory by using a hot and spicy raspberry filling straight from a jar. The last I filled with a sweet walnut paste that I use in my walnut butter cups. Loved them all!
Update: You may also use gluten free pie filling. Comstock brand and Wilderness brands are gluten free. Continue reading “Gluten Free Pop Tarts – Style Pastries”
