When you’re serving Chinese food, it’s nice to have at least one easy appetizer as others are usually labor intensive such as my Gluten Free Egg Rolls and Potstickers recipes. These fried gluten free wonton wrappers are super easy, yet delicious and versatile! There are no gluten free wonton wrappers to make! I share with you an easy substitute. Serve this appetizer with sweet and spicy sauce or one that is either sweet or spicy. You can even use them on top of main dishes or Chinese chicken salad for crunch. Bacon wrapped anything is wonderful. Let’s face it, flavorful fat and salt just make things taste better. My second most popular appetizer is my Baked Wrapped Honey Chicken Appetizers. So, I figured you all may be interested in more bacon-wrapped appetizers. These bacon wrapped stuffed mushroom are just as flavorful except more so. They are stuffed with more richness, cream cheese! Note: If you are on a gluten free diet, you should be aware if that you are  highly sensitive to gluten, you may want to avoid mushrooms. However, most people with gluten intolerance can withstand the under 20 parts per million (ppm) gluten found which may be found in mushrooms. There is an Italian dessert by the name of cannoli that consists of a deep-fried pastry shells filled with sweetened ricotta cheese. I altered this traditional dessert and created a savory cannoli, perfect for an appetizer. I filled mine with creamy ricotta cheese, peas, and basil. You can either make this soy-free or dairy-free. Savory Gluten Free Cream Puff Appetizers – Pate a Choux

Gluten Free Pate a Choux (Cream Puff) Appetizers

I think these appetizers are going to be the appetizer of the year! Whether you call these little shells, cream puffs, pate a choux, or profiteroles, they all equal deliciousness. If you don’t have the time, energy, or skill to make my Gluten Free Puff Pastry, pate a choux is the next best thing. It’s easy and almost foolproof to make. Just be sure to beat the dough well after the addition of each egg. You can fills these lovely pastries with a various ingredients, from pizza toppings to liver pate. Gluten Free Saigon Summer Rolls – Vietnamese Rolls with Peanut Sauce

Gluten Free Saigon Summer Rolls

While on vacation, we ate at one my favorite gluten free menu restaurants, PF Chang’s China Bistro. While this appetizer from their happy hour menu is not gluten free, allow me to explain why it’s not. The waitress spoke to the chef on my behalf. He said that the only reason why they don’t label it gluten free is because it is made on a grill that would pick of cross-contamination from gluten. Their peanut sauce may also contain gluten, but I didn’t ask. The appetizer is called Saigon Summer Rolls, also known as Vietnamese Rolls (Saigon is the former name of the current city, Ho Chi Minh City, in Vietnam.)
