Gluten Free Meatball Appetizers (Sweet and Spicy or Savory)

These gluten-free meatball appetizers may be made sweet or savory. They are delicious either way. Make them with all beef or beef and pork. My husband loves them using half and half without any sauce. Which way will you make them?

Gluten Free Meatball Appetizers

For an easy and delicious appetizer, make these gluten free meatball appetizers. Dip them in a sweet and spicy sauce or if using a mixture of beef and pork, serve without sauce.

Ingredients:

    For the Meatballs:
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup seasoned gluten-freeĀ bread crumbs (C4 brand or homemade) (Use GoVeggie brand Parmesan if dairy-free - contains soy)
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt (if using all beef)
  • 2 lbs.Ā ground beef or bison (or half bulk pork sausage)
  • For the Sauce:
  • 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 cup gluten-free sweetĀ chili sauce (Thai Kitchen brand)
  • 1/2 cup peach preserves
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon gluten-free chipotle sauce (orĀ hotĀ sauce such as Tabasco brand)

Instructions:

  1. Add the ground beef to a large bowl. Top with eggs, chicken broth, seasoned bread crumbs, parsley, pepper, and salt, if using. Using your fingers, combine all of the ingredients. Roll pieces into 1-inch round meatballs; set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, add a few meatballs and fry, shaking so that they roll around brown on all sides, about 7 minutes. Using a slotted spoon or spatula transfer meatballs to a paper towel-lined plate. If serving immediately, keep warm in the oven on the lowest temperature possible. If making ahead, allow themĀ to coolĀ to room temperature, freeze in a single layer, and store in zip-lock storage bags. Repeat process with remaining meatballs.
  3. In a large bowl, combineĀ the chili sauce, peach preserves, and pepper. (I used a small food processor.) Warm in either a microwave-safe bowl or in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the meatballs and toss to coat; serve with appetizer picks.

Tips

Variation: Serve the meatballs with your favorite pasta sauce.
