Gluten Free Beef Tostadas

This is a fairly easy, yet a tasty gluten-free recipe. You can either purchase pre-made gluten-free brown rice tortillas, which I did this time from Trader Joe’s, or you can make your own. I have included the link to my white rice gluten-free tortillas below. If you are cooking for kids you’ll need to adjust the heat by reducing the chili powder and cumin. If you like it real spicy, then by all means add more! This recipe is set at a medium heat. Often stewed tomatoes are added to tostadas, but since I found out I am allergic to tomatoes I just add lots of spices and vegetables. Definitely consider adding tomatoes to yours! Enjoy.

  3. Once no more pink is visible in the beef lower heat to medium, drain green chili and add to pan along with all spices; stir well.
  4. Add water and potato flour; simmer for about 10 minutes.
  5. Serve immediately over tortilla.
  6. Top with your favorite tostada toppings: lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese, cilantro, avocado, gluten free sour, cream, Greek yogurt, salsa, guacamole or peppers. Depending upon your toppings, this can be made dairy free.

For a crispy tortilla, preheat enough oil in a skillet to cover the tortilla. Once heated, add tortilla and cook until it reaches the desired crispness.
